looks pretty good your allowing for the ventilation of the lights. the thing that popped into my mind is the canopy supports for when its open, whats going to keep them from rusting? probably if they were titanium or plastic it wouldnt be a prob. just wondering if you thought about that. I also wouldnt use a drawer handle just cause I dont like the look. I'd use a router and cut a recessed handle into the wood. more estheticly pleasing to me.
Other than that it looks really good. sleek design, relatively simple construction. nice.

reefkprz - your points:
-the one thing that aquactinics made clear was that canopy housing must leave unobstructed vents for it.
-the supports are really a big ? at this point, as you can see in the pic, they really have no where to go, so we might have to just attatch support legs that come out from a clipped secure position like a car hood. but i would like the pneumatics that someone has suggested to me, just dont know where they are, how much , and what material....
- drawer handle was just there for reference in the pics :D we dont have a router so it is not gonna be the prettiest chunk of wood, i promise that! but i will have to figure out something...

All I can say is thank you for the pics and very nice.
The handle is something i didn't think about, get a little switch on the side of the tank that controls a motor to open/close the canopy so you don't need the handle.

hehe that would be sweet. someone brought that up earlier, not sure if that was in this thread or in person. i am in no way a big wood-worker so if it remotely resembles what i drew in MS Paint on page 3, i will be very pleased!

hey I saw what you did with the acrylic for your sump if you can do that you can do wood. just takes patience thats all. (that and the right tools)

tools being the keyword! this whole thing is on a budget, so to aquire good wood working tools lies the problem. im sure once i had the tools, with a little practice, anything is possible, thats why i am here! also, a few good friends in the right places can be invaluable :D

nice! cant wait to see them in the tank, sounds like a petty good order for $70. did that include shipping?

yea the order would have cost $202, over 200 would get free shipping, but i had the 130 in credit, so SCORE ME! haha
yea i am getting excited , this hobby isnt the same going wrass-less! and i am crossing my fingers the CBBF is tough enough to survive the "initiation process" that he WILL get once he finishes QT / hypo.

well everything is acclimating, 3 buckets
fish -> DT
inverts -> DT
fish -> QT
unfortunately the linkia is a little beat up, i have a thread in the reef forum for help on it.
also, i looked up and saw my serpent star squirming around, which is a rare sight indeed, so i got a few of him too :)
3 fish arent pictured because i have a feeling the wrasse is about to jump out of the bucket so i took one chance, and the pic sucked lol.

well everything is in the DT and the CBBF is in the QT. I have a good feeling about this CBBF as he didnt even get dark and stressed out or breath hard during the acclimation process. the peppermint shrimp rocketed out of the net when i put him in the tank faster than i have seen any shrimp propel itself ... i dont even know if he went straight into the overflow or not, and havent seen him since. the wrasse is beautiful but a little panicked this morning when the lights came on... i havent seen the anthias try to bully him, but surprisingly my CB angel gave him a little chase!

what lights were you running before the T5? i think you're going to like the aquactinics. before you start using it, i took mine apart just to take a look at the insides and noticed that a couple of the "clips" that hold the ballasts to the top of the fixture werent popped in all the way, and the ballast was pretty much just floating around. it was an easy fix, no major flaws in the fixture itself, but i just thought id pass the word along. cant wait to see them in action
