I didn't read all that was said but no one is requiring that everyone has to carry a weapon. But if we as a law biding american citizen want to, we should be able to.
I agree, level headed Americans with a solid past who are not insane or prone to criminal activities should be able to carry a weapon. However, I don’t want to see them in college classrooms.
I gotta ask you guys this. Do you think law abiding citizens should be able to carry guns on domestic flights?

I certainly do carry a weapon. I check mine in whenever I fly.

I would have to think about that awhile. Me knowing my abilities I say yes to me but at the same time you never know when some nut uses it to decompress the plane ( they proved a bullet hole would not on mythbusters) but I do not wanna take that chance. I am already scared to fly after losing my parents in a plane crash in 1980 I don't need anything else to get me nervous.
In the end I would have to say carrying on board is a no go Too many things in such a small controlled environment can go way wrong.

First off your misquoting me . I never said that . But I fully agree that nobody should be forced to carry a weapon , I do how ever think that law abiding people with the proper training should be allowed to carry firearms . I do not think any person with the proper credentials should be forced to turn over their firearm in any situation . Weather it be on a school campus or when boarding a flight to another state . If the flight is to another country than I can understand but thats a whole other ball game .

Where did I misquote you? I think we are pretty much in agreement when it comes to firearms, the only difference is that I think there should be some restrictions. I'm sorry, I don't like the idea of 18 -20 year old kids on campus with a concealed loaded gun. To many bad things can happen. I much prefer the idea of more armed security on the college campus and let the federal gov foot the bill by imposing more tarriffs on steel from China.

I thought it would have been more entertaining had you commented on how handsome I am or my rugged good looks

I am not aware of any states where the law permit anyone under the age of 21 to obtain a concealed weapons permit.

No worries it is illegal for them to have a handgun at that age.

You are right, my bad. Although I thought I read somewhere that some city or state is trying to lower the age to 18?
What do you guys think about women with concealed weapons, are they as able as men?

You quoted me but it has strebs post in it .
Jmick you have to be 21 to purchase a handgun by federal law , 18 for long guns such as riffles and shotguns . So in turn you would not have 18 year olds running around with hand guns in their coats , pants ,shirts ,book bags.

How long does it take to pull one shot then the second? Again, this isn't the movies, this is real and it happens in a split second...can you imagine the pandemonium and chaos if 20 students pulled out guns in response to one gunman? They'd more then likely shoot each other, no one would know who the original gunman was...silly.
20 to 1, those odds I like. 1 to 20 those odds I do not like. Getting 20 barrels shoved in your face may make one think twice about thier next actions, or maybe not. Even if the perp shoots one, there are still 19 CITIZENS willing and able to defend themselves.
BTW the original gunman would be on the ground, either in surrender, or a perforated state.

What if the other 19 all pulled and shot their weapons and 10 of the 19 were bad shots and they killed their classmates instead of the gunman? There are so many variables and circumstances and possibilities when discussing this. IMO, the only really viable option here is to have more armed security personnel on campus along with metal detectors and use them as a deterrent. I gotta say, it's sad that we are even having this conversation. I graduated college less then 10 years ago and I would never have even thought about something like this happening.
