Division 1 college ball is a joke. It's rigged to allow specific teams to play for their 'National Championship'. The BCS system makes it literally impossible for potential upcoming teams and smaller schools to even have a shot at winning that trophy. I honestly don't know why they waste their time with the regular season. What's hilarious about 'The System' is you lose one game, and you're done. So these top teams schedule these weak schedules the first two weeks of the season so they can at least insure they aren't out of the running before they start playing conference rivals. Look at Week 1 - Texas plays Rice? Georgia Tech plays South Carolina St (they have a football team?) Georgia plays Layette (Division 2)? Iowa plays E. Illinois? Get the trend? Even when a decent team does have an undefeared season (Utah, etc.), they still aren't invited to 'The Dance'. It's all political, with the 'coaches' and the money determine who's in and who's out. Until they come up with an actual playoff system like the NFL, I'll never consider ANY team a National Champion.
