New Refugium lighting.
Was browsing the forms and i ran across this post. I am in dire need of a new fuge light, so that i can take off my ugly clamp light and put my filter cover back on finally. SocalNano what do you think about his light, was it a good investment? How well did your microalage grow using this light?
Thanks

This fuge light works great. When I put the chaeto in the back it started with a piece the size of my fist. Every three months I pull out a brick sized bundle for export.
Keeps my nitrates at zero, and as a bonus it runs on 4 watts total.

Thanks for the reply I think I'm going to look into buying one of these soon. Seems like a very nice light!

Cool deal. If you have any more questions about how mine is set up, let me know.
On a side note, if there is chaeto directly against where the LEDs shine through it will get bleached out locally. So When I change mine out I make sure to rotate and pull apart the chaeto and remove any that is not a consistant dark green. (The bleached portions turn yellow or white and are brittle). If you don't pull apart the compacted chaeto it won't grow as fast either.

yup, thats how much they were last time I checked.....
for me it has been worth it. Its simple and does the job. I don't have alot of access to behind my tank so it was easy to install w/ the magnet attachment similar to a magnet cleaner

So how long have you had this sponge? Amazing that it is living right out in the open like that. Usually a cryptic creature preferring shaded areas.

I got it the first week of June 09'
I didn't even know it was a sponge until it started to get super big. Started out looking more like a yellow sea squirt or tunicate type thing.
Since I didn't know it was a sponge I'm sure it was even exposed to air at some point.
I don't feed phyto or spot feed it anything, so I guess it likes whatever nurtients are already availble in the tank.

haha, yeah I think I remember seeing you had a sea squirt right? I like this guy because the color is so bright compared to the yellow you typically see in a tank.
