Where did you go? I knew I hadn't heard from you in awhile. You didn't bring home more cats did you?

Been busy lately, then today did a day trip to northern CA carrying some parts for my wifes work. I was sitting in some type of moving vehicle for about 1,000 miles today.
Don't think they would let cats get through security. I have wondered about carrying corals/fish through security, but with the 3 oz. of liquid restriction figured it is just not worth it.

WOW...that's a lot of driving, unless you are a trucker. It's been crazy here too. Kid's baseball games, Boyscouts tonight, game tomorrow night, and leaving Fri. to take the Scouts on a weekend campout. Plus trying to get some pics up on here that I had promised. I think it's about time for a real vacation.

Woohoo more pics!!!! I agree 100lbs of LR there looks like 20lb in everybody elses tank. The size of your tank is really misleading. Do you have any pics of your plumbing (tanks I mean) hehehe. I remember you said earlier that you have most hidden away in your basement? What's your skimmer?

What a gorgeous tank. Question for you, since you are so busy are you taking care of the maintenenace or so you have someone helping you with it?
BTW my trip was driving to the airport, flying up to Oakland, driving 100 miles north from there, driving 140 miles down to San Jose, flying back down and then driving home. So no I am not a trucker, if I was I would want to be one like Spideys hubby.

I have added more lr, so it looks a little better now. You'll see coming up (sometime). Some equipment pics should be next, hopefully today, but the skimmer is a ASM G4-X. I really love the skimmer and have had no prob's.

Correct...Threed got it. I didn't catch this until months after I had bought it and finally got it out. I thought...now what idiot was working the production line on that day?

That must have been one important package delivery

No, I handle everything with the tank. I meant I was just really busy during all of that house construction, plus I really needed their expertise and help. I didn't feel 100% comfortable doing this size tank completely on my own. I still call them up now and then with questions, but most everything can be answered on this board.
Maintenance between the two tanks is maybe 5-10 minutes a day cleaning the glass (really more, but that's because I'm playing in there most of the time), and then about 20 minutes once every week to week and a half doing water changes and mixing new sw. Water changes on the 280 is usually around 25gal. at the time.

Yeah, now that I think about it. I'd better check mine when I get home.

I didn't get a lot of pics of the equipment going in, but here some of what's running this system. As mentioned the skimmer is an ASM G-4X

Here's a shot of where everything is located

Up top are the lights, (2) T12 super actinics 72" long and (3) 250W MH's.
Also up top is one of the two Tunzi auto-controllers for the powerheads. The other one is mounted down below.
Up top, the square white thing on the right is the bottom of a fan. I mounted it up there before I had the chiller. The small 4" fan didn't seem to do enough with that amount of lighting and being all closed up inside of a wall. I decided to leave it up, even after the chiller to help agitate the water surface a little, as well as to keep some air movement in that enclosed area. There are vent openings in the sheetrock up above the trim work.
Down below is a 65 gal. sump, skimmer, and Blueline 70HD mag drive external pump.
Temperature controller

Formerly down below, were these three ballast boxes for the lights, and their timers. Not only were they bulky and taking up limited space, but they were one more source of heat that had to go. My only option was to move them to the fish work room down below in the basement. I drilled holes in the floor for the cords, which fortuntately were long enough to go from the basement all the way up to the top cabinet upstairs, where the lights are.

Back upstairs to the fishtank area, notice in the floor in the compartment below the tank, I put in a rubber membrane and a drain. This was in case there ever was a major leak. I wouldn't be able to hold back 280 gallons of water if it all came at once, but it would help. The drain is also used for my water changes. Drain runs thru the floor to the basement ceiling, then out of the back wall of the house (underneath the deck), then connects to a gutter which is piped underground leading out to the woods. This way there is no salt water killing my grass.

The little black tube is the waste water line from my RODI. This is connected to this same drain line leading out to the woods, however I may re-route that in the future to collect this water for other uses. Those systems do waste a lot of H20
