Let me say what a nice piece of land you have there. That is one big A-- tank. I like how wide it is.
As far as who you are I am voting for red hat, the one who looks like he is working, but is really going, don't hit the wall, careful now, I SAID DON'T HIT THE WALL!
Crash I NEVER take anyone not in the hobby to the lfs, too many weird looks, the looks of boredom and the sighs meaning it is time to go. Much better to go on my own.

Are your buddies in the picture into fish too or where they shaking their heads and wondering if they should rexerve a padded room for you ? I know everybody around me thinks I am nuts . My sister went with me to the lfs and there was a 220 full on reef as their show tank and she didn't believe me when I said it was worth at least a good 25-30 k . She thought I was nuts to spend 10 bucks on snails .

I've got the opposite problem.. I can't take hubby to one because he'll buy everything that looks a bit technical and will ask afterwards if we need it

My GF sarah is really good about it . She really doesn't want to be involved in buying or maintance . She just likes to look at it all . She will walk around for hours and look at the lfs .

No, you pretty much sumed it up...they all think I'm crazy. I never thought it was that big of a deal until one night, one of them made a comment about one of the shrimp in my tank "probably being good on the grill". When I mentioned how expensive of a meal that would be, they ALL looked at me like I was some kind of moron. Do others really think that you can pick up this livestock for a buck or two? I never thought that, even before I was in the hobby.

kyle must be a real disappointment to his father. after all Richard Petty finished in the top ten. (if not 1ST) in his racing days. NOT like kyle in the LAST ten cars (if at all)
what a loser

Due to a callout from fellow member 'Scotts', I have finally got around to taking some photo's and documenting my tank. Although this thread started over in the 'Aquarium', we are transfering the posts and will pick up from here. Any and all comments (good or bad) are welcome....

Once the tank was in place, I had to go back and fix the wall openings on both sides of the tank. My original plan was for a tank around 400 gal., and this is how the wall was built, but that would have made the tank about 36" deep. I didn't want to be snorkeling trying to reach the bottom so I trimmed back the plans.

Some more pics while under construction. Glass stayed covered most of the time, but I was walking on pins & needles with all of the hammers, nail guns, etc around.
