How many tangs could I fit in that tank?

OMG.... comfortably, I would say 5, depends on the Tang too.
1) Black Hawiian or the Longnose black Tang
2) Cheveron
3) Carribean Blue
4) Chocolate, or even the mimic yellow peel, another beauty.
5) Achillies
(just my dream list, but I can share)

Okay, good... So here's what happened: we don't have central air, just some window units and our electric bill has been close to $400/month the last few months. Since my other half (ex other half roughly 2 hrs ago) didn't help with paying any of our livin expenses I would harp on her to work on turning the downstairs a/c's off at night and the upstairs a/c's off during the day... Well she got confused and turned the downstairs ones off when she turned the MH on in the tank (the timer fried and I had just ordered a new one). When I got home the water was 102F and cloudy. A few snails, my blue hippo, green chromis, and yellow tang survived. I lost every coral and my big fat mandarin. I moved the fish to the 30B temporarily, all the rock to trash cans, and the sand is still in the tank.
I'm moving in two weeks anyways to a fly apartment- its big, large rooms, heated pool, a nice gym, sauna, jacuzzi room, tennis court, basketball court, etc. it's on the ground floor so I won't have to worry about weight problems. Also, it has central air. I am going to start saving for LEDs. I have some other large purchases in the meantime (I'm going to get an all-new bed room set bc the wife's dogs have ruined the bedroom dfurniture I have now. While I'm stacking that $ I'm going to set up the 30B as a frag tank to start collecting frags and I'll work on a coast to coast overflow on the display. I'm using this poop situation to benefit my system. Down but not out. Of course I will be cleaning everything up real nice and making other changes as I can think of them.
Seth knows I wouldn't take offense to that- if I was getting out then you'd have had first dibs but I can't let a little thing like losing 3 years of coral growth in 8 hours keep me out!
Any suggestions for the new system?

I knew you would be back.
I can think of a thing or two.
Are you using the old tank itself? Or, are you investing in a new tank all together? I like the looks of those starfire rimless tanks - 180g or better. :D I can definitely help you spend your money! lol

WOW. I am glad a few fish survived.
Don't know if I read that right but, I hope things with the wife (or Ex) gets worked out. Glad to hear about the new apt, ground floor is the way to go. I hated lugging up bags after shopping to the third floor. Plus heat rises so you should be paying less to cool in the summer.
I think that Snake has the right idea, 180 minimum. I really like the look of the 5' tanks that are at least 24" wide and 24"tall. Even better 60" X 30" X 30" or 60" X 36" X 36". Those dimensions look amazing to me. I really like the idea of a coast to coast overflow, think about a bean animal overflow. Put that with a nice closed loop and you have a super nice tank.
Super happy that you have an awesome attitude about this... Some people you just can't keep down..

Yeah man. You really turned around quick! Glad to see your not going to let life get you down. I wish I was as resiliant as you.
Ive always liked peninsula style tanks. The rimless peninsula tanks are pretty sweet. I like the look of the acrylic ones more than glass. More vibrant colors.

Dang Eric, I'm very to hear that what has happened to your tank. For some reason, I thought you lived in Tampa all this time. :x
I hope you hop back in soon!

so, as it turns out, i will not be moving... Janice seems to be happier where we already are. i was going to upgrade to the 300DD, but not if we are staying in the same place. SO, i'll use this opportunity to try some new things (like the coast to coast) on my 125 and if i like them, when i finally do upgrade i will incorporate them into that system as well. I'm hoping to start cleaning all the equipment soon. In a month or so I'd like to start on the C2C and I'm hoping that in november i'll be able to pick up 4 of the ecotech led fixtures... I want a lot of inverts in the next set up. loads of shrimp and pom pom crabs. tons of flow, maybe a CL or just two more MP40's

I haven't been on here for quite some time, wow. The last few months have not been too kind to Eric B, but I'm good at snapping back like a rubber band. Long story short (and I'd like to just leave it at this) neuro surgery, both cars totaled-not by me, and the fiance is in the process of moving out. Needless to say: lots of changes this winter. I'm going to pick up a truck in the next few days- I need wheels and I've been on a mini-truck kick so I thought I'd start a side project with that.
The tank is still empty, though hopefully not for long. I plan on doing some C2C research in the next few weeks (I've forgotten a lot) and putting it back together. Once it crashed I realized how much it had cost in electricity. Not that it was a huge expense, but my electric bill went from $180/mo to $60/mo and I can't justify tripling any bill, no matter what the cost is. So I'm going to get it up and running with the C2C and use the fixture I had but not run the MH as it establishes and I'm going to set aside some dough for LED's so that when it's ready for coral I won't have to worry about the MH's anymore.

Just like to pass on something our good friend Flower said to me when I was at the low point of this roller coaster ride we call life.” THIS TO SHALL PASS”

Thanks guys. I should have the first part of this truck build done in two weeks or so and then I'm going to work on the C2C. Will post pics.

Well, I've gotten sick of staring at an empty tank so today I went ahead and got the ball rolling again. I ordered the glass for the C2C with beananimal overflow. The internal weir will be close to full length- 67". Also ordered a replacement wet-side assembly for one of my MP40's as well as a few hole saws and bulkheads from glassholes. I'm going to work on cleaning up all of my equipment while I wait for the glass. I guess tomorrow I'll head out and get a bunch of salt and the replacement pump for my Calcium reactor. I'm going to try and not have to build another sump for this overflow design.
