Still not seeing any more nudi's in my tank. Starting my first RN job on Monday, so hoping that having a decent income might get me interested in the hobby again. I hate not really being interested in my tank and it seems to happen every year around this time, I think because of the nice weather.

that seems to go on everywhere... summer and being nice outside makes us neglect our tanks... and when the weather turns and we are inside more we notice more about our tanks...

WooHoo!!!! Congrats again man. That's awesome! I wish I was at that point in my life right now too... starting a new career. But, it will take a little while for me to get off the ground. You're doing great man - even if you have no interest in the tank. lol

Eh, when it's 110F in the shade here in Louisiana on the hottest days - you can't really do anything besides work indoors. lol

I heard that. Down in SoFla here, so mid summer is the time when I'm most likely to be INSIDE. Just the short walk from the house to the corner store is enough to melt skin right off the bone.

Hey guys! Hope everyone is doing well! Things have gone south for my tank. I take full responsibility for the decline. I've lost a few corals and others aren't looking so hot. I hadn't done a w/c in 6 weeks so this week I did two 30 gallon w/c's. Also, I don't have central air and the room the tank is in doesn't have window units, so the heat may have gotten the best of some of the corals, but last year this didn't seem to affect anything. Also, my bulbs are over a year old. On top of that the wet side assembly to one of my vortech's seized up.
I will have to wait 2 weeks until next pay to change the bulbs and fix the vortech- starting a new pay schedule I had to juggle this months bills around. I am really looking forward to getting back on track and having a decent amount of pocket money. Hopefully the water changes will make a difference; it certainly wont hurt!

so sorry to hear this! I hope that whatever you do in the future will be met with more luck. Please don't be too distraught over this. I have also had a tank or two crash on me. It's tough, but your tougher. Chin up.
can I call dibbs on the dry side assembly on your vortech and your calcium reactor or is it too soon?

Gemmy, I know Eric will get my humor. We've been buds for a long time. I'm sick that his tank crashed. It was very pretty and I hate to see the thread has come to an end. I know one day soon he will get that itch again and start over.

That sucks I know this hobby cost to much to maintain. I would look into getting LED fixtures can't beat bulbs last 50,000 hours and a chiller. Probably why I never went past a 20gal for a reef tank to much $. I know you get it up and running again once you get salt in your veins it never comes out. Keep on

I agree, I would say the heat was the final straw. I know it's the end of the journal and all...but I didn't see a thing about quitting or did I miss something? I thought the journal on THAT tank ended, not leaving the hobby ended.
