By the way: a big THANK YOU to my man Seth. I really appreciate what you did for me.

?- Since I am going to do another round of prophylactic hypo, what do I do about the mandarin? Since pods won't live in a hyposaline environment. It's my understanding that mandarins are pretty resistant to ich anyways...?

Order should be arriving tomorrow. I am mixing up a water change for the DT which I will do before acclimating the inverts.

That sucks.
At least since you ordered from here you can get replacements/credit.
Sick or dead fish had always stopped me from ordering online. In the past I've always liked to watch the fish at the LFS for a few days before I pulled the trigger.
I will have to look back a few pages on your thread to see your QT process..... do you leave them in for 4 weeks?

Yes, 4-5 weeks with hypo.

I understand there is an inherent risk ordering fish online but this is the second time I've ordered from this site and both times there has been DOA and both times the animals looked sickly. The mandarin went straight to DT but is ridiculously skinny. My tank has tons of pods so hopefully it hasn't lost it's strength to survive. Also, there's a white spot (that looks like ich) on the fin of one of the anthias and it's breathing very heavy this morning. The other fish in the QT are breathing normally so it's not low oxygen in the water.

There's a cleaner shrimp in the middle of this pic, but it's pretty small

I caught this guy doing some work last night before I left for work. I'm glad to see that some things are still doing well.

I've seen the mandarin swimming around the DT a few times but mostly in the rocks so I can't tell if it's gaining any size. Lost an anthias yesterday so now I'm down to 2 anthias and 2 chromis. It's not like I can't do one more round of fish and add more anthias, though.

Really cool pics man.

Sorry for your losses. Just have to grin and bear it sometimes.

Thanks buddy. I just try to grab quick pics with my phone whenever I walk past the tank. The losses aren't a big deal. I just don't really want to have to do another hypo treatment after this one but it is what it is...

Another dead chromis and anthias this morning. Now I'm down to one of each in QT, both of which are swimming around the tank. The water quality is fine, all tests were 0 last night before I went to sleep. I took pictures of the dead fish and thought about filling out another guarantee request but I'm never going to order from this website again. In the 5 years I've been in this hobby I have never lost fish like this.

The mandarin in the DT is hanging in there and is still adding girth to its once gaunt frame. I saw the cleaner shrimp yesterday so I'm guessing that it will be fine. I haven't seen any of the emerald crabs, with the exception of the one I posted a picture of, not that I expect to see them on a regular basis. The peppermint shrimp that I have seen are much larger than the ones that were just delivered so I'm guessing they were from the first round.

I really do not want to have to worry about QT and corals at the same time so I am pretty adamant about having whatever fish I want in the DT by the end of December. That being said, I have enough time to finish this hypo and do one more round. I will do another set of anthias and chromis. I'm really looking forward to not having to care for two tanks and to start adding corals. I'm also very excited to jump on the LED train.

I feed them 2-3X a day. I switch between Spectrum pellets and frozen mysis.

The last few days I haven't been feeding the anthias anything, mostly because the last one died the other day. I have one chromis left in QT and it seems to be doing well. By "well" I mean that it's still alive, looks to be healthy and is eating. I would have said the same thing for the last anthias until I found it stuck to the Koralia in QT...

In the DT I noticed one dead emerald crab and another one that was stuck to a MP40 without any claws. I removed him from the powerhead and released it back into the tank. The cleaner shrimp is still alive and so are (at least some of) the peppermint shrimp. The mandarin is also still alive.

The green chromis is still alive and looks well. November is shaping up to be a busy month for me so I might wait until the end of the month to make my last fish order. I will try for anthias one more time, most likely two different kinds. A few ignitus and lyretail and possibly a few more chromis for color.
