I just recieved my sunpod 20" 150W 14000k MH yesterday :cheer:
:happyfish :cheer:
, upgrade from my stock 50/50 pc's that were on my JBJ nano.
With that in mind, should I start my MH lights on for an hour a day then move them up an hour every 3 days? Or could I start with a few more hours to start with? (Like 2 or 3 hours to begin with, then move it up according from there?)
Basicaly what have you done in the past when upgrading? (I don't want to bleach/kill my corals!!!!)

You need to buy a bunch of screen at your local hardware store make sure its plastic, and layer that above your tank between your light and tank. Then every other day remove 1 until they are all gone.

Can you post some pics of the light on the tank? I'm about to buy the sunpod 36" and i wanna see how it looks. I wanna see the like given off by the 14k bulbs on this particular unit.

Don't you just love that fixture?!?
I have the same one and it is great! I got my 20" for about $275.00 and haven't regretted it for a second.
I may try a 20k when its time to replace the bulb next year. I like the 14k but it would be interesting to see how things look with a little more blue to them.

How long have you had yours for? What acclimation procidure did you follow when you switched over to that unit???

Geez. I thought I got a good price. Granted, I grabbed mine almost the minute they came out. Congrats on the great deal!
It is so hard to be patient and not leave it on too long but it is so worth it. Once they got used to it, the few corals I have are loving the light.
I have had it for a few months now. I did it basically the same as you are, just leaving them on for a little bit longer each day, but didn't do it as precisely as I probably should have. Luckily everything came through just fine and is doing great now.

That is good!!! I know that I got a success story with how I am going about with it then!!! Good!!! This way I hope not to kill any of my Coraline algea and CORALS either.....?!?!?!?
I got a pair of O Clowns today, they are funny, and they are already eating and every thing!!! Nothing is opened up for them, cause the light is only on 2 hours a day.... and they came after that point today....... :hilarious But I am like every one else..... their names are Nemo and Dory..... but to be detirmined when they get a bit bigger (So I know which is the male and female!!!
) I have alot of family members with kids, that have been asking to see nemo and dory.... ( but how do convince them dory turned orange???? :hilarious
:hilarious )(24G not a good choice for a REAL Dory.... I Know tang poliece, you can keep your sirens and lights to your self!!
:hilarious

aloha or jerth,
I'm close to pulling the trigger on this light too. Only bad thing I've read anywhere seems to be a concern about too much heat. You guys found this to be true or no?
Thanks.

Oh i forgot to ask you jerth. How high does the fixture sit off the water? Also, do you see a big increase in heat?
