well...ok, those of you are great in texas please move now...then follow through with the original plan.
I'm not for the death penalty...and of course i personally have not had anything happen to me, but my best friend has been raped plenty of times( who lives in texas--i've heard just so many crappy things from her about texas and their court system), and what happens? they go to jail for a couple months and get out on probation...yea? real nice...but I'm still not sure i'd want the death penalty...its a hard one for me

stdreb, what the...the numbers are about murders being commited in the years posted.
Over all the rates have gone down, but the differences in the numbers are clear, consitaintly.
Now you can try to claim that " other circustances " can explain this and maybe some may beleive that. Perhaps that one is that a compasionate inviroment tends to create more compasionate people.
Ive heard many as well like weather or wealth ect, ect, and I dont buy it, No explination that makes since when you look at the numbers.....I tryed and could not follow your explination.
If time is a point with you then explain the ever widening gap between the percentages as " time goes by ".
Again, how can you and others be " so sure " that your beleif in a death penalty is saveing innocent peoples lives when these numbers show that there a possibility, a strong possibility, that its actually costing them. Perhaps even the loved ones many speak about when defending it.

You are implying that a person on death row is interchangeable with a vet defending our country

I would like to know at what age your bestfriend was when she got raped and continued to be raped. If she was a child then it could the typical pedophile. But if she is an adult who continues to get raped, by different men,(how many times and how many different men raped her by the way) makes me wonder if she is really being raped or just says she is. If I were her and it was with different men, I would consider not putting myslef in those type environmental situations.

Let me give you this scenario you are vet doing what your country asks of you weather right or wrong you just lost a member of your squad you get a replacement and you ask what did you do back in the world and he says “oh I raped and killed a 6 year old girl so im your new best buddy"

please never say that about my friend jon....when i say plenty i dont mean every other week, twice that i know of....
and yes she should carry a gun...she has a stun gun now...she is a very ill and weak girl in hospitals most of the time..who has not had a great life all around. you want to know how lucky you are let me tell you her story someday.
but either way, i'm just saying i do have some very very close friends to me affected by these people, but i'm not sure i could still say kill the man and watch them kill him...no matter how much i hate him.

Most of them wouldn't have the courage to fight. Courage takes character.
