DO NOT feed your marine fish freshwater feeder fish or bloodworms.
FW feeders are bad for SW fish, they contain the wrong types of proteins and nutrients. IMO, its alright to feed a newly introduced predatory SW fish FW feeders for a week to get them acclimated to their new tank. After that you need to wean them onto frozen foods ASAP. Another popular type of food that alot of people here are probably feeding all the time... BLOODWORMS. Bloodworms are FW worms, and just like the FW feeders, they contain the wrong nutrients. Many LFS' feed bloodworms reguarly and get people thinking that this is whats right. Bottomline, if you feed bloodworms or feeder fish, wean your fish off the bad foods and get them on some better(marine based) foods! Its like us living off of potato chips!! :D

DO NOT worry about putting a mandarin and a clownfish together, they will probably not even notice each other. Only worry that you have enough live rock/tank conditions to support the pod population that the mandarin needs to thrive:D

Do Not fool yourself thinking :
"I'll just get a little 29gal tank over there in the corner...With a couple of fish...That's all I'll ever need...(or want)"

Do not buy a fish on sale when you have no room for it.
One LFS tried to sell me a small clown trigger for $40 even after I told the guy I don't have room for it.
It's hard to control your self when you see a fish that usually will cost $100 but control your self.

Do Not...Let Me REPEATE...DO NOT put silica sand in your display tank because some BOZO on some other forum said Silica sand won't leach silicates in to the water causing uncontrolable growths of ugly brown diatoms that cover all your rock and sand bed and glass and now you have to change out all your sand "again" so your tank doesn't look like a Sludge Pit every two days
Do Not Ask Me how I know this

DO NOT buy uncured live rock and put into your display tank immediately.
This will cause nitrogen cycle to start again causing stress/deaths. Cure the LR first.

DO NOT worry about using silica sand in your display tanks! As long as you maintain all levels and proper lighting...you will have NO PROBLEMS with algee or diatoms..

OUCH!!!!!!!!
Do not start out with a small tank, save your money and get the biggest you can afford,(because eventually you will anyways) you will just save a ton of money by avoiding all the small tanks.

DO NOT change over to a dsb the day before a baby shower to impress your friends. They are not impressed with a giant milk vat and act mildy nervous as if they think it's some kind of wierd baby shower game.

DO NOT listen to your LFS when they say that it's OK to put fish into a new tank setup as long as you wait 24 hours...
DO NOT listen to your dumb next door neighbor who says you don't really need a substrate cause they're just for looks anyway...
DO NOT cycle a tank with live fish EVER. I will be forced to throw you in a toxic waste dump and watch your lungs fill with garbage is you do.
DO NOT turn the tank lights on in the middle of the night because you want to see your fish...they get really mad if you do...at least my goldfish did when I had my first ever fish tank.
DO NOT tell your mom that you paid $20 or more for EACH fish when you bought more than 3... :p "no, mom, I paid $20 for ALL of these fish...really..." :D
