The canopy is about 19 1/4" for both the hight and width, but keep in mind the Canopy trim sits over the tank by about 1". As far as those strip lights they are Aqualight Double T5 lamps. Not sure about the wattage, I think only 24watts per bulb. It's not a lot, BUT my corals seemed to do ok with them for the time I had them. They do like the MHs more though. They were only $45 a piece, and it gave me time to figure out what lights I really wanted to go with before spending all that money. Lights are so expensive and there was so much info out there I went with what I could get away with until I figured out what exactly I wanted. It's nice that I can still use them to suppliment my tank when the MHs are off.

Yes, my tank is 6' long and IMO you will need three of the lights you are looking at. The only way you can get away with just two lights is if you go with the Mini-Luminarc reflectors if you don't want a dim spot in the middle. Some people don't mind it because it gives them a place to put the lower light corals. The Mini-Luminarc Reflectors will give you a 3' coverage, so two is all you need. This also means you are using less electricity and less heat. Also you are only needing to replace two bulbs instead of three. Better all the way around IMO.

yeah but when i looked at your site its gonna be around 600 bucks. and doesnt really look like ill be able to fit say one of my VHO retro in the canopy with them.
by one VHO i meant one set. i was looking to get the halides and get new bulbs for my VHO. i want to use only actinics for my VHO wit the halides.
did you get my PM i sent you?

It does depend on the size of your canopy. Mine is large enough I can fit my MHs and my T5 double lamps. Not sure if you saw this picture in my diary thread, but here it is again, so you can see how I have it set up. Once my MHs are on for at least 6 hours I will then take out my 10K T5 bulb and only use my actinics for when my MHs are off, then I'll put moon lights for when the actinics go off. (I don't run my T5s when I have my MHs on.)

There is no shadow when I have my MHs on, and I believe that's because of these awesome reflectors.

are they placed write over the two center braces. cause my tank is the exact same. just wondering are those plexi glass pieces to hold up the T5s

My T5s are sitting right on the braces (glass, I need to clean them
). The end that's right next to the canopy has a wire attached to the lights that hang over the side of the tank, so there is no chance of them going into the water. These lights are only $45, and I love them because they are so skinny and don't take up hardly any room.

Yes, I plan to put both, but not until I have all my fish then once I know I can keep my water balanced I'll attempt my first SPS.

good stuff. im really leaning to your setup there. but just afraid that there to big and i cant fit my retro VHO in there. i know there only VHO but i have 760w now and my coral are doing great. so i would like to keep them and use them as two 72" actinic bulbs. then i have another VHO setup that can hold four 110w bulbs just doin nothin. but thats a price im willing to pay.

The edge of the reflector is over the brace. Your braces look like they are in the same spot as mine. I'm sure these lights would work for you tank.

I know what you mean. I'm in search of a LTA, clam and I want to start some SPS, but I'll wait a few more months, after all my fish are in. More waiting.
