first pic is the new bulkheads installed after paint was dry for two days out in the sun. in you live in jersey you know how hot its been. second pic is the sump and the DT done with paint. the tank in standing vertical was the old sump that leaked to start this whole crazyness project. last two are the DT and sump laying out in the sun.

its starting to look like a serious set up. could be better but much better than it was.
as of rite now, in 2 weeks i will get ALL new VHO bulbs. then come xmas the halides. thats the only thing i really need to up grade. wich is good. well dont need to but want to. i only have softies and LPS as stated earlier, so 760w of VHO is fine.

Things are looking good. The sump leaking could be looked at as a blessing in disguise.
Can't wait to see it back up and running.
I'm running into my own issues. Powehead stopped working but Hydor is replacing it for me and my RO/DI unit seems to be putting out a higher TDS then it should, so trying to figure that all out.
It's a good thing I love this hobby.

thanks for the comps. uhh tank should be back together with sand and rock by sunday. i just started a thread about where to drill siphon breaks. not sure. so until i can figure that out then we wait.
this time around i can honestly say this that i feel like i went to another level in this hobby by going all out this time. i just feel that much more experienced and have that much more knowledge. does that make sense when you go from feeling like a nub to the next level.
but cant figure out were to put the siphon breaks.

azfishgal how do you prevent water from back siphoning through your loc lines. thats whats holding me up. i will position them almost like yours. im afraid that with siphon breaks, that the loc lines will be to far in the water and just keep draining. and that would be alot of water if it happened to your tank with the way the loc lines are.
very very very very confused about this.

I have a small drilled hole in the PVC pipe inside the "T". This prevents the back siphoning.
We might plug it though and put the whole just below the water line, as it makes a bit of noise coming out. The whole would still be above my loc lines, so it will still do the job of stopping any back siphon from happening.
If you look closely at this picture you can see the water squirting out just below the top part of the "T".

so i should be fine if i put the whole just under the water line. and say you did a fake power outage after everything stopped would your loc lines still be under water.
i think i do see the water coming out, just to the left i think. am i right.

last two are of the returns before installed and the second is of the ball valves coming off of the drains from DT.

i think it came out great. and for doing it my damn self. good stuff.
i did everything right this time, all lines have unions for quick break down, and ball valve to control a situation. so this is a great step forward.

When I turn off my pumps my loc lines are still under water and the water does not syphon out.
Not sure why the metal shaft is taped to your box. Do you have one inside your powerhead with the impeller on it. It goes down inside your powerhead and through the impeller and then the top of the shaft (metal bar) goes into the top of the lid. If you already have one then this is an extra one (not sure why you need it though).

It's actually ceramic. Hydor switched to ceramic and now they have switched back to the metal. Not really sure why. I have one with ceramic and two with Metal and they both work fine. Well......two of them did but have since stopped working. BUT, Hydor was really good and is replacing them. (They have a 24 month gaurantee.)

water test went great. no leaks
i put back in the live rock, live sand, established water that i kept when i broke it down, and about a 20% fresh saltwater mix. so that would be like doing a good water change.
just letting the tank settle now. i only have the sump on. i did not put in the Koralias yet waiting for the sand to settle.
All looks well so far.
