This whole Trayvon Martin thing has me perplexed...

First off, I completely agree with the jury, that Zimmerman was not guilty of second degree murder. There is no way he went out with malicious intent, planning to kill Martin.
However, I also feel like Zimmerman has to take some of the blame. He made several bad choices that led to the end result. Calling the police should have been the end of it, but he chose to do more. Not only is that a stupid choice to lurk in the shadows following the kid, but it's a really bad decision when you are carrying a weapon. Was he racially profiling? Probably so, but if the shoe fits...
I think there needs to be some sort of laws put into place that prevent this from happening again. Whether its a "stalking" provision, or whatever. Also, when a 911 dispatcher tells you not to do something, you should probably listen.
In the end, I think what he gets is exactly what he deserves. While he won't spend the rest of his life in prison, he will live it being constantly harassed, and more than likely he is going to lose his shirt in civil court. The moral of the story is, if you have a weapon, you need to make better decisions, and think what "might" happen in the worst case scenario. I know if I had my pistol on me, there was no way I was going to tail that kid, just in the case the worst happened, and in this case, it did...

Think we need to just let this topic go. It isn't going to end very pretty. And people can't seem to judge based solely on the facts. You can't say what you would or wouldn't have done because you weren't there.

This situation was the perfect storm. Everything that could have gone wrong, did. The dispatcher didn't really tell GZ to stay in his car. He should have made that clear. GZ shouldn't have gotten out of his car under any circumstances, especially if he thought the guy was a burglar. TM, who actually did make it home, decided to turn back around and confront GZ. GZ was too weak to deal with the kid, another reason why he should have stayed in his car.
Perfect storm with a tragic outcome.

So, I just read on abcnews that one of the jurors is under contract for a book.
Tonight the prosecutors are giving another interview for HLN. The lead prosecutor still refers to GZ as a "murderer" even after the judicial system he works within has said otherwise.
I have little faith in our judicial system.

I just wish people would quit making it out to be a black vs white thing.
Lets not forget that obama launched a federal investigation and then backed off shortly there after when they realized this wasnt actually the case they first thought it might be.

Can't imagine that the Justice Dept is going to do anything but lay low. Elections in Nov.

If someone hits me square in the nose and starts bashing my head into the concrete, I think I would have also drawn my weapon and fired, fearing for my life. Case closed... move on.
How about all those cases where black people maim or murder white people and aren't called hate crimes? Jonathan Paul Foster, anyone?

So, GZ is now resuming the defamation lawsuit against NBC.
Here is what NBC edited:
Zimmerman: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.”
But the full tape went like this:

Zimmerman: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. Or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.”
911 Police Dispatcher: “OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?”
Zimmerman: “He looks black.”
Why hasn't the FCC investigated this?

He should. If it wasn't for the way that this case was first circulated around the country then we wouldn't be here right now. This was a classic self defense case that turned into a witch hunt. Poor judgment or not, this guy will never reach his goal of becoming a cop, nobody is going to want to hire him and he has people all over the place wanting to seek out there own form of justice on him. The guy is screwed. He should be compensated by the media for circulating that trash.

For the record. I have to ask. Why is this a race issue or made out to be? Zimmerman is just as white as President Obama.

American media is to be blamed just as much as stupid people for believing in them. Controversy sells and they tried hard.
I'm so sick of this topic as well and yes, I agree with OP 100%.

Agree with what exactly? Racial profiling, lurking in the shadows or not listening to the 911 operator? Just curious because non of this was proven to be true.

This became a race issue when Al Sharpton decided to get involved.
Everything that I've read stated that the 911 dispatch told him that "he didnt need to" follow Martin. They did not say "dont' follow him. Big difference there.

Yes, I'd say the media is now in the business of creating so-called news, and is the culprit of many things gone wrong in the USA. I hope GZ sues the hell of NBC and whatever media released that racial slur interpretation of the 911 tape which was a complete and utter lie.
The state attorneys office should also be sued for continuing to call GZ a "murder" in media interviews, including national TV. That is outright SLANDER coming from a special prosecutor appointed by a dumb governor in the State of FLA. Since they continue to feed the race hate, if GZ or his family are harmed in any way, they will be directly responsible in my book.
Now something else is circulating which I am not buying in to and that is that TM may actually have bought the skiddles and the Arizona drink to mix up some drug cocktail known as "lean". Now, there is no evidence that is the case at all. But it speaks to all the wild stuff that is circulating on both side of this case. While GZ's family are receiving death threats, apparently so are Martin's parents.
