so I bought some raw uncooked shrimp today.
But when I read the ingredients it said shrimp and salt
question is, is salt ok?
If I rince the thawed shrimp in ro water will it be ok?
is it ok to feed this or do I have to eat it myself

cause that would be horrible if i did

i used that same stuff for my eels back when i had them. they seemed ok, and they loved the stuff. i just thawed my in tap though. and peel it. you cant find frozen shrimp without salt, since salt helps keep it "fresh"
i guess you could go to a seafood place and get it fresh out of the ocean, but it would cost a lot more...

I know what you mean, but certainly you could eat a majority of the shrimp yourself, and just save 1 or 2 for the fishies.
Did you buy it pre-packaged, frozen?? I usually get mine fresh, but who knows if the salt that too.
I would think it would be a minimal amount, used as a preservative. Don't believe it should be ant trouble.

I wouldn't not personally use salted shrimp. Okay, one is not going to hurt him, but I wouldn't use that entire portion on him nor buy it again.
The fresh stuff is more expensive... but it's still one of the cheapest foods out there. But you need to buy more than just shrimp for whatever you are feeding, they need a varied died.

It is "fresh medium shell on raw shrimp with tail" "individually frozen"
I dont even know where to get fresh uncooked shrimp here
I'm not going to feed it exclusively but thought it would be a nice treat
but hey like i said if i need to eat it so be it %%

WELLLLL...I was out of my raw/shell-on shrimp...so this morning I went to the only place I have..lol...to get some more
WELLLLL...It does say salt and sodium
How could I have missed that...
I have been feeding it to my stingray for 10 months now, and she has tripled in size, so I am guessing it can not be hurting her.
The next time I go to a REAL store..lol...I will check the fresh seafood dept, and see about their raw shrimp...

have you been rinsing / thawing them in ro water?
do you peel and detail them before you feed?
I thaw them on a paper towel, rinse them, peel them, and rinse them again using tap water, I then cut in half, and feed each piece to the stingray

I'm going to poke around and see what I can find out. I've always been told not to do it, but was never told why... let me see if I can find the why.
