I know, I sold cell phones in a rural area to pay for college...
But seriously, you should be ok, until you start downloading music or video which is why the carriers put a cap on it to begin with...
Another thing you might try, we used to do this alot is purchase some 3rd party syncing software. And use your phone as a dialup modem. You're get 300k plus for the most part. The downside is that it ties up your cell phone. And uses your minutes... But 30-50 dollars for the hardware, 10 bucks for a dial up connection is a lot cheaper than 50 bucks a month.

Yeah. Theres a lake McConoghy (SP?) in Southwest Nebraska which is about 4 hours from here. Stuff is dirt cheap there and it's supposed to be a good fishing lake. We need to take a look one of these weekends but 50 grand buys what looks like a pretty decent place.

Not that is makes much difference but there looks to be at least 30 objects on the page averaging probably 5K apiece. How did you come up with 18K?
OK, its now showing around 26K. I use Firefox. Right click on a blank section of the page and go to View Page Info.

Go with a mifi card if your laptop is wireless rerady....otherwise you are stuck with wifi stick. Which is fine, but the speeds are usually slower for some odd reason in my experience. I only use laptop at home....we use a one of these devices for our internet at home for the laptop and when out and about if we can't ride on a decent signal. last month we used about half of the 5gb allowance. and my wife surfed and researched for about a total of 6 hours a day average...

Like meowzer I want to get mobile internet. I have High speed wireless at home already for my Moms and mine desktop computers and my laptop works fine with it. However I can’t leave the house and have internet.
I keep seeing 3g speed network that I can get with Verizon or US Cellular. I want to be able to be on the net for 8 hours every day..Not video or anything like that, just SWF.com and the like.
So what is a mifi card? Is it different than the mobile broardband modem?

Just the ad banner alone is 28K, I don't think that's an accurate tally of the size of the page.
Not that even a few Mb is going to make a noticable difference with a multi-gig pipe.

Right now Firefox reports 13.7 General and 25.27 media on this page. Total 38.97, again on this page.

A MiFi card is a cellular device that creates a mobile WiFi hotspot that up to 5 computers can hook up to. They are offered by the carriers with a data plan like a smartphone or wireless modem. I know Verizon and am pretty sure ATT have one. Not sure about other carriers.

Let me see if I understand this right..I can perhaps get a tiny little card inside my blackberry for example and use that wireless gizmo to hook up to the internet anywhere I can use my cell phone? It may tie up the cell phone but I have internet???

I"ve only seen CDMA carriers (which us cellular is) offer it. I do know AT&T has that feature removed on the eyephone.

What you're talking about with the BB is called tethering, and yes, you can do it with the BB. The MiFi card is something different. Its a device about the size of a deck of cards that has a cellular modem built in. It connects to the cellular network and then broadcasts a WiFi signal that up to 5 devices, be it a laptop or any other WiFi enabled device, can hook up to.
