Actually, I know 60% of those individuals at the Federal, State, and local level. Do a majority of Americans know that information? Of course not. That's because of today's technology, and the influence the media has on the voting public. If you tell someone enough times that Obama is the evil stepson of Satan, they'll actually start believing it's true. People don't research a candiadtes platforms and political history. They let the media tell them who the person that's most qualified for the position, then blindly follow one another like lemmings walking off a cliff, and push the 'vote' button on the machine based on that information. You have lifetime politicians sitting out there at all levels of government simply because of their surname. Ciro Rodriguez is the most useless representative Texas has at the Federal level, but he gets elected term after term because of the majority Hispanic population in his district. Same thing happened with Henry B. Gonzalez before he died. Fortunately for san Antonio, we implemented term limits for our City Council and Mayor. I just wish they'd do it at the state level so we could get rid of those useless crook Rick Perry (Texas Governor)

Time to put you to the test. What in Obama's political history did you like so much that you voted for him? What on his platform did you like? and how where these positions different than John McCain's?

He had a D after his name on the ballot

This was the big time issue for my mom's family. They were all democrats cause their daddy's before them were. Yet they were firmly opposed to gay rights, affirmative action and abortion. I'd get into the discussion with my mom and she'd get flustered and change the subject.

Honestly, I didn't factor in Obama's political history as much as I did knowing the history of McCain (i.e. Keating 5). I also saw McCain as nothing more than a Bush clone. The Deal Sealer for me was when he put that incompetent idiot Palin on his ticket as his running mate. McCain had a history of health issues, and just the remote thought of Palin becoming the President by default made my stomach turn. As far as his platform, I liked his ideas behind health reform, and some of his economic strategies. McCain spent half of his campaign refuting anything Obama said, but when put on the table for what his solutions were, he'd just talk in circles.

Wouldn't be the first time a candidate has tacked right to get elected. Heck they were running around saying Obama was a centrist. Even the Huckster said that.

You based a vote for Obama on the Keating 5 investigation, even to a small degree? The Democrats own lead counsel recommended he and John Glenn be dropped from the investigation after looking into the matter for 18 months. I believe their final reprimand to McCain was he should have known better than to put himself in a position where there could be an appearance of inappropriate behavior.

I would love to see Americans quit being lemmings. "My neighbor paid $300k for his house, I'll pay $325k." Never mind that almost no one actually owns their own house, it is insane to encumber one's self with 30 years of debt. But the banks and real estate industry love it. "A (supposed) quality measuring service says Toyota is great, so I'm going to buy them no matter what I experience." They've killed more of their customers through shoddy engineering than any other car company, but "They have soft-touch dashes. That proves they're quality right?" "I've heard the news media say 1000 times that global warming is going to kill us all if we don't hand over our freedom and money to those who demand it, right?" Never mind that the worst predictions for global warming is the earth will warm up by 1.5-2 degrees (if they're even right about that). "Being gay is natural and normal and people are that way because of their DNA, but the natural role of men and women is a cultural phenomenon." Well, what is it? Are we programmed to be h@mos@xual but not to be heterosx@ual? Cultural assimilation is imperative for any society, but why does wrong thinking catch like wildfire, but common sense get thrown away?
