While I try to only frequent local restaurants, there are times when I find myself away from my homebase and am unfamiliar with all of the dining options. In such instances (with the family), I would much rather accept the known quantity of a large chain restaurant, with an established level of quality, than to take my chances at some "mom and pop" place which might turn out to be fabulous or a dive.
For me, its

I also try to only go to locally owned places, but if I'm in a pinch I like Ruby Tuesdays. They are inexpensive, have decent food and a nice salad bar. Much better than the crap they serve at Friday's and Applebees

I'm all for any sushi place, but if I can't find one, it's Olive Garden all the way.

Would it be too "ghetto" if I said I love POPEYES and White Castle anytime im in the North East? Damm I wish they had a White Castle in the south, it would make a killing down here!

I love Grandy's. Not sure if you northerners know what I'm talkin about. Hard to go wrong with Outback but I don't get steak there.

Grandys, yum, Though havent been there in yrs, too far from home. I know no one wil know this place except maybe earlybird, but we love Clancys. Its a family owned place that has been here for 20 yrs. best burgers and fried zucini in town. cant go wrong with Mels, or jasons deli either

Benihana for a nice meal or In 'N Out Burger if you are on the left coast for fast food. Also Pick Up Stix on the Left Coast a good casual meal.

Mine is Ruby Tuesdays, since they are the only restaurant I've found with a couple of awesome carb free, (almost) fat free entrees.

Last week I just tried the "World Famous FATBURGER" can I tell you? I prefer Johhny Rockets or EVEN Checkers.. Not IMPRESSED and $15 for a Large CHEESEBURGER AND FRIES AND ICED TEA..

The best burger joint is either Backyard Burger or Whataburger (if I'm really hungry lol). Favorite sit-down/pick-up is Buffalo Wild Wings. Love wings. Better local places, but BWW isn't too bad for a national. I really miss their 35¢ Tuesday wing deals. Went there pretty much every Tuesday.

Definitely. They have a really nice variety of flavors, and their "Blazin" is indeed quite warm, but usually just get a half mediums/half parmesan garlic (definitely worth a try IMO). The drink specials are okay, and FYI they do their wing count in sixes, 6/12/18/24/50/100.

Their chicken soft tacos are good too if you don't have a decent Mexican restaurant in your area. Not true Mexican tacos, but they satisfy my craving.

After my above mentioned Soft Taco post here is another great chain. Super Mex...only available in L.A., OC, and Vegas but good Mexican food.
