When I had cleaner shrimps, they all developed the same spots and died a few days later.

its a mystery of sorts, i cant get an answer to what it is. Some people say they get spots and they molt them off and live. Others say what you say. I am happy to report the new shrimp is well, no spots. He is also a lot more active than my first one and chases food. And luckily the sixline is being nice to him for now.
pics of the new fish later!

Over the weekend, I decided to pick up a yellow watchman goby. I read its a good beginner goby and i thought it would be a good color that contrasts a lot with the rest of my tank.
He is very friendly, doesnt bother any of my other fish, shrimps or corals, always sits in the front of the tank, and doesnt shy away when i walk by the tank. The only problem is I think he sees his reflection in the glass because once in awhile he keeps swimming back and forth against as if he was fighting himself

My sixline did this for the first day or two but has figured it out and doesnt do it anymore. I'm hoping the new goby does too. I think it is stressing him out and he is starting to get some discoloration spots on his body. Even though he eats his share of mysis and no one is bullying him, I think he may end up killing himself if he doesnt figure out the reflection of the glass issue.
Anyways, here are some pics of him.

say cheese!

Mr. Goby working on his tan.

Mr. Goby evaluates the current coral situation. He suggests I will have to move my frogspawn away from the GSP. Thanks for the advice Mr. Goby!

Mr. Peppermint greets Mr. Goby. "Sorry, no Pistol shrimp here buddy!"

I had thought about it but I already have two shrimp in there, maybe down the road in the future. I know he would enjoy a pistol buddy but honestly I havent seen a pistol shrimp at any of the LFS stores near me. Maybe thats why my goby is stressing out?
I have read and seen tanks they do fine without a pistol, who knows?

there was a little bit on a rock or two when i first set it up and since then it has multiplied all over tank, including the back walls, top of korailia, magfloat and other rocks. i was fortunate it that its been easy for it to grow on its own.

thanks for the comments guys. But of course, I guess I have an anti-goby tank because I believe goby #2 is about to bite the dust.

Over the past few days his color has been getting worse in spots. And each day the spots get bigger and bigger. It looks like the scales on his body are being rubbed off. Now an open sore has appeared on his body.
Since he has been in the tank, he has often attacked his reflection in the glass. He constantly will swim up and down the tank against the glass and he doesnt really like to go anywhere else. I never seen him once in the back of the tank and he rarely hides under the rock in the front. He just likes to swim against the glass. He eats daily food too as if nothing is wrong.
I have not seen any bullying from other fish, my firefish and sixline. They leave him alone. If you look at his fins, they are healthy and not bitten off.
Any ideas why he is doing this, I honestly think he is stressing himself out. My sixline did this for 2 days but he got over it. My goby keeps at it!

my test results seem normal
ammonia 0
nitrates 0
temp 77-78 all day
salinity 1.025

here's a vid of him stressing out

Well, got even more crummy news. The goby is doing worse and to my surprise when i came home yesterday, so was my sixline!!
His face was swollen, skin/scales were peeling off his face, and I was like what the hell is going on???
and then I saw it. My peppermint shrimp was attacking my sixline!!

[hr]
! I couldnt believe it. My sixline would swim around and look for a spot to hide and my peppermint would chase it, grab its face and tear at it for a couple seconds before the sixline would break free. I watched this happen 5 times.
I got the net and was able to scoop out the peppermint and right now I have him contained in a plastic container in the tank until i can tank him back to the LFS.
the peppermint must have attacked my goby too. I dont think the goby will survive and im not sure if the sixline is going to make it either. this sucks, the sixline was my favorite.
