Who has seen the new trailer for the show TANKED, airing on Animal Planet?

There are two types of aquarium owners in this world... the hobbyists and the ones who want a decoration. If you think about it, this show clearly is not geared towards the former, but the latter. I know a trailer is hardly conclusive, but I'd bet money that anyone who is interested in the real aspects of the hobby will not find what they are looking for here. This show is for either people who are reality TV junkies or people who want an aquarium for decoration. Anyone who is interested in the hobby either has a tank already or knows what owning one means and doesn't for that reason; but in either case, not someone who needs this show to know what the hobby is all about. My guess is that any hobbyist who watches this show will not watch it for long. Think about it... would a reality show that spends a significant amount of time showing how to install a pump or spends time discussing flow gather much mainstream interest?
We can debate what the effect of removing a puffer from the water is, or we can just agree that there is a difference between taking a puffer (or any fish for that matter) out of the water out of necessity, and taking one out of the water to laugh at it for the cameras, as they did in the trailer.
I bet that if someone here posted a video of themselves pulling a puffer out of the water to laugh at, the response here or on any forum of "real" hobbyists would be overwhelmingly negative, and for good reason.

Probably a publicity ploy. I'm gonna check a few other forums to see if anything similar is posted. I figured it was in the first place, but figured it might get fun.

Well, I was finally able to see the vid. Yeah a reality show. Someone who sets up tanks for a living, some of whom don't really care so much about the welfare of animals, but who want to make a living off of setting up tanks.
LOL, it takes a spammer for a reality show to come in and get us talking again. Yeah, there still is a heartbeat at SWF.

Tarred and feathered, if not outright banned.

I'm not very impressed from viewing the trailer with the level of respect they have for the animals. Looks to me like a bunch of thugs and a whole lotta theatrics. I see another monster garage/pawn stars/blah blah reality show clone.
How long into the series is some "dramatic moment" going to be going on where they do a talking head interview where the guy says "The owner's got a party tonight, we have to get water in this tank NOW and get it ready to go for the party." only to watch them fully load a completely uncycled tank?
While increasing awareness of the hobby should be a good thing in theory, if the way they are behaving on the trailer is the way the show goes, is that really what we want people to think we are as hobbyists?
Stated perfectly. This is a reality show pure and simple. Instead of in a tattoo parlor, pawn shop, whatever, its now based in a fish tank store.

Well I won't be watching. That whiny broad was enough to make me realize that if I had to endure a full couple minutes of that each episode that I would clearly go mad.

Sometimes, I would take my puffer out, put a tube to a helium tank on his mouth, and fill him up, then watch him float around the room....
Nah but seriously, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they did pay homeowners to set up a tank, shoot the setup, then tear it down. Supposedly on a network who supposedly supports environmentally conscience living...
It is like when my wife watches all those home decorating shows. They spend the whole show tell you how green this product is or that product is. While they're building out a room on a set somewhere, that they're literally going to tear out as soon as the show is over. I just want to walk in there and point out, there is nothing green, you sanctimonious fools, about using all this wood, and building materials, on a set that you're just going to tear down after your shoot....

dang it...I'm so mad... exploring on animal planet's site on their "fish guide" it gives the worst advice.. it says that you can keep a panther grouper in a 100 gallon, for instance...

I wonder how many beginner hobbyists will follow that advice...

Re-run I'm sure. Those channels are always re running their stuff. I thought it was next friday, I'll have to look for it to play again. I don't think I'm going to like it much but still want to check it out out of curriosity. It looks like they build unique tanks? If nothing else I'll be interested to see how they do that.
