    300 Gallon Reef Project

Looks like you've got a nice system on the way! And good call choosing glass over acrylic. Before converting my 300g to a FW planted tank, I'd spend a good 4-5 hours every week just scraping coralline algae off of the viewing panels; not to mention the scratches (even happened with delicate...

    Project 300 is underway!!!

It's been awhile since I've visited swf.com, but I just wanted to drop to say hello and post a pic of the tank since the conversion to a FW planted tank (it's still a work in progress): And so that this post isn't considered totally off-topic for this forum, here is a current look at my 65g...

does corner weir act as fuge?

It sure does. When I had my 300g with corner overflow/weir boxes running, I had all sorts of sponges, sea squirts, worms, feather dusters, etc. living in them. The boxes also seemed to be good for providing breeding grounds for a variety of pods. There was always an abundance of life in them.

65g Reef Back is in Action!

Thanks for the comments guys! The tank has been going well, and I finally moved the last of the fish from the 300g over to the 65g tonight. (Over the course of the last month, I moved in the pair of ocellaris clowns - they were happy to reunite with their anemones, the multicolor angel, the...

    BIG custom built-ins

Sure! It's not difficult to take pictures of the fishroom, as it only extends 3 feet behind the tank. I've got shelving set up at the far end of the room for equipment, as well as a couple of Rubbermaid containers for RODI storage and SW storage. If you look towards the end of the thread, you...

    BIG custom built-ins

I recently tore my 300g reef down to convert to a FW planted tank due to budget reasons, but here are some pictures of it in it's prime and the thread I created to document the building of the tank. https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/156983/project-300-is-underway

    Oceanic - Bio Cube

I saw one at the IMAC conference a few weeks ago. It looked a lot like the JBJ Nano Cubes, in fact, I thought it WAS a Nano Cube or Aquapod at first glance.

Lion Crazz can you recommend some of the better books for reefs

I'm not Lion Crazz, but a few of the books that have helped me tremendously are: "The Book of Coral Propagation" - Anthony Calfo (my favorite! It's much, much more than a propagation book.) "Aquarium Corals" - Eric Borneman "The Reef Aquarium, Vol. 3" - J. Charles Delbeek & Julian Sprung (I...

    NEW used tank.

A little bit of vinegar residue won't hurt anything. In fact, some people even dose vinegar in their tanks to bring the pH down. When I cleaned my 300g up last year, I used a 10:1 solution of water to distilled white vinegar. I rinsed it once, wiped it down good and hard, and everything turned...
