    Not A Trick

Thats it. I would never have thought it was algae, since it is just one bubble. Thanks so much for answering my question. Problem finally solved. Thanks again. Norman

    Not A Trick

I am hoping someone has seen something like this. I have something on my live rock. It is easy to describe because it looks exactly like a medium size pearl. It is gray and has a similar luster. At first i thought it was a small marble or round piece of glass that was gradually being exposed...

Heater on the blitz - water temperature 88 deg F this Morning

This seems to be a continuing problem with these stealth heaters. The one I had in my salt water mixing tank went up to 90 before I noticed it. It was only a few months old. I have never had a problem with the Visitherm model. The new heater control thermostat would be ideal. Wish they...

    D.O.A. = Dissapointed on Arrival

Jenni I could have written your post word for word. I had exactly the same experience. Box arrived cold, no heat packs, two dead fish. My order was also in the winter, but that is no excuse. I have never ordered anything from them since. My credit still sits there in my account, but why...

    W/D? Tank set up question?

You are correct. The tall thing is a cheap protein skimmer. The brand is Pro Clear. They are not too common, however I have one and it removes a lot of stuff. I just replaced my original because my sump is so limited in space, it is the only one that fits. It comes with its own pump and...

    Correct Reading For Copper Test

Thanks Joe Yes, coppersafe is chelated so I will raise my level to between 1.5 and 2.0. I don't understand why the test instructions don't mention this little fact. OH WELL, I know where to find the answers when I need them. Right Here. Thanks again for the reply.

    Correct Reading For Copper Test

Hi, Hope someone out there knows the answer to this question. I can't seem to find one. I have had to resort to treating my display tank, fish only, with Coppersafe. I have the test kit, but I don't know what the ideal reading should be. When I add the amount they recommend, the copper...

    Question about buying fish online

I received my order from Saltwater Fish today. Two wrasses and some hermit crabs. Both of the fish were DOA. The crabs seemed ok. The water was very cold when I opened the box and there was no heat pack to be found. I would really hesitate to order anything else live online.

    Growth on walls

I had a really good growth of coralline. It was growing on the glass, rocks, everywhere. Then I decided to drop my specific gravity from 1.026 to 1.022. The coralline all went away and a new red algae appeared which is like red velvet. I never saw anything like this before. I guess...

    Why Do I Fail?

For what it's worth, I had exactly the same problem. Every fish I put in my tank died. Some lasted around 4 months, some lasted less than a week. They all acted the same. Swimming problems, quit eating, then just dieing. The only thing I had not tried was lowering my salinity. I know the...

    Run A Copper Tank

I agree that stress is a major problem in fish health. But, I must find the source of the stress. All of my test readings were right on the money. Zero amonia, nitrite, ph 8.2, nitrate 10, temp 80. all the fish were eating normally, growing and had good color. All were in the tank about 4...

    Run A Copper Tank

Thanks for the reply. There are a lot of things to think about when trying to decide on some of these remedies. You have pretty much talked me out of keeping copper in the tank at all times. It seems that nearly all animals harbor some type of disease and even the quarantine method won't work...

    Run A Copper Tank

Hi everyone: I don't want to start a copper war, or an ich battle, but I have been losing fish for quite awhile now with ich. I understand the quarantine theory, but once a display tank gets it started, and since it is a fish only tank with live rock, has anyone had any experience running...

    Too Salty

Thanks everybody for your great help. I guess my salinity was ok. I will look for something else to blame, but I can't imagine what it will be. It is so helpful to be able to discuss things like this with the people who have the experience. Norman

    Too Salty

Here is a question I don't remember seeing addressed before. If tank water is too salty, that is, over 1.025 to 1.027 would it gradually weaken the health of the fish. I recently lost three fish that I had had for over 7 months. They gradually seemed to have color problems, refusing to eat...

    DIY sumpoverflow question...

Has anyone ever tried using two U tubes in one overflow. It would seem like this might work, but I am not sure if there would be too much flow, or if this would even be possible? It would be unlikely that both syphons would fail at the same time.

    Koralia

Thanks everybody. It seems that everyone is pretty much on the same page. I agree. They are great little pumps.

    Koralia

Thanks I had a feeling that leaving them off would be the best bet, so I shall now remove the one I put on. I want good, even flow, but not a blast. I think they are excellent pumps.

    Koralia

I know a lot of you use the Hydor Koralia pumps for good circulation. I just installed a Koralia 2 to replace my Koralia 1. My question is, how many of you use the flow concentrator nozzle that comes with the pump. It seems to move more water without it, but I don't know which would be best...
