tanks?

Salty, you need to make a little drive to Reston VA to Marine Scene. Tom (the owner) has what has to be one of the best retail setups for coral/livestock I've seen. I lived in the metro DC area for 6 years and his shop always, IMMHO put everyone else's to shame. Prices are a little higher than...

    anemone position??

Not to be too short or blunt, but it really does not matter. The anemone is gonna go where it wants to.....frustrating ain't it? :)

    Sump Cost and Lexan

Ok, after getting an outrageous (I think so, at least) estimate for a "custom" sump.....550 bucks for 48"lx16"wx20"h (if I recall correctly, that is) I came up with another possible option. Lexan containers used for food storage by restaurants. Would this material be inert in saltwater? I worked...

Cleaner shirmp has a black mark.

If interested in breeding any saltwater species. here's a good jumping off point: http://www.breeders-registry.gen.ca.us/species.htm#L

    Very true, Yammer.

Cleaner shirmp has a black mark.

Strange. I typically only saw them under what I was assuming to be the female. Could be wrong, dunno. Baby shrimp? Doubtful in a tankful of corals. Treat for the inverts. There are breeding FAQ's out there if you wanted to try breeding.

    Closed Loop Circulation

Golfish, I was speaking specifically at initial (first) startup. Did you just fill the intake line with water and let it go from there?

Star fish cut into little pieces

Yammer, aeration of water would, more than likely, raise pH not lower it. The aeration of the water would drive CO2 out and raise pH.

Cleaner shirmp has a black mark.

Black spots typically disappear with next molting. Cleaner shrimp eggs I've seen are usually green masses under female's abdomen.

    Another Algae ????

Bubbles are probably caused by photosyntheisis in the algae generating oxygen.

    Wimplefish Henchus acuminatus

Also, seems to do better with more than one of its own kind in a tank. 3-4 in a tank, that will handle it, look great swimming together (too few to call a school).

    Strange question...

Condensation might also become an issue with that cool air blowing inside a warm, moist cabinet.

    berlin airlift trouble

Not sure what type of airstone you're running. Limewood is the best for small bubbles. The ceramic ones are garbage, in my opinion, for use in a skimmer. Just my 2 cents

    Tornado Season

Had hurricane hit when I lived in MD. 5000 watt generator ran all hardware (2 pumps, 2 heaters, 3 MH (675 watts total). PLUS tv, computer, and refrigerator. Still need to get plug adaptor for 220 volt outlet to run stove if need be. Only prob was lack of outlets. Power strips only help ya so much.

    Closed Loop Circulation

Hondo, haven't noticed any probs yet with predation by nudibranch. But I am always watching for it! I forget who mentioned problems with the Ocean Currents oscillator. One is brand new. The other was in operation on my 30 gal for 8 months before switching over to 92 gal tank. Every now and then...

    Closed Loop Circulation

Researching this as an option to increase water flow in 92 gallon tank. Searched the archives but was unable to find any info. Concerns and warnings I should be aware of? My tank is a 92 gal RR corner. Current circulation provided by an Iwaki WMD 30 routed through two Ocean Currents Oscillators...

    Skillet Fish

According to Dr Burgess' Mini-Atlas of Marine Aquarium Fishes Mini-edition, the family of this fish is "Gobiesocidae". Info for this family is as follows: "Clingfishes. Benthic. Very hardy. Very tolerant of water quuality changes; very resistant to disease. Generally peaceful, but very small...

    i want another fish

Don't discount the 4-line or 8-line wrasses too. Also, if the royal gramma is not to your liking a blackcap basslet may be more suitable. I've kept all three of these wrasses with no probs even in a 125 gal tank with breeding clark's clowns. Want a blackcap basslet but doing research before...

    Does anyone have nudibranches?

Don;t know where it came from but observed a frilly white nudibranch in my 30 gallon after 6 months of being setup. Didn't buy it, just found it in my tank one day. Have seen it only once since I changed to 92 gallon......

    i finally got it

Just a quick question.....does that "Small Pacific oct" in your tank description mean an octopus? They do eat fish ya know. If against all odds you manage to keep that filefish alive let us all know how! Not being rude, but the collective experience on this board, as well as all the relevant...
