    New addition to the family

Oh man...that is freakin' sweet. Cool eel. I've never seen a smaller one like this, all I've seen are fully grown adults. That's gotta be the coolest thing I've ever seen in a tank. Nice buy.

    idea for 25-29 gallon

Lawnmowers need a whole hell of a lot of algae to eat properly, I'd only add it if you started to notice rapid algae growth. Plus lawnmowers can get pretty big. Other than that and the obvious addition of a cleanup crew, your list looks like it'll make a good nano addition, lots of color and...

    one more fish?(help)

You should be able to add something small, like a dottyback as long as you keep the water conditions favorable. I've seen about the same size tank with one more clown, minus a six line, and plus a jawfish. Looked fine (though it was a tad on the crowded side).

    Calling all Snowflake Eel experts

My friend just put a baby sfe in an aggressive fish holding tank (3 triggers - clown, huma, and niger -, a lionfish, and a porc puffer all in a 55). First night out he went crazy, somehow weaseled his way out of the tank and ended up on the floor of his showroom. Found him the next day stiff as...

    Odyssea 2006 Model MH Lights

You know what...I've never owned a odyssea mh light. That's because I've seen MULTIPLE instances where people have had their lights fail. The reason you don't see people saying "don't buy coralife" is because the ballasts don't catch on fire. I would recommend coralife and jebo products...

How would a Peacock Mantis do with 2 Lionfish?

On top of that, for a mantis shrimp there is no such thing as enough food. If something is in the tank that even remotely bothers it, it'll go after it, no matter if it's fed well enough. Hell, if YOU stand outside the tank too long the mantis will try to get through the tank and get you. And it...

Porc puffer stung by Foxface. Please help

Good to hear, bro. Hope the puffer does allright. Sounds like you got a cool tank going on, wish I could fit a puffer and a foxface in my tank but with 12 gallons of reef, I'd definately see a fight to the death. Good luck!

    wrasse

It really depends on how long the wrasse has been in your tank, and how big it is. I know people that have had success with keeping multiple wrasses (one in particular had a great combo with a lunare and a yellow, great color combo too) but he acclimated them all around the same time. If you...

    Blue hippo tang sting!

The hippo tang isn't venomous. It's spines are extremely sharp and it can hurt if you get nicked by it, but it's one of the tangs that is either not venomous or who's venom is so low in potency that it would only cause you minor discomfort. Just clean the cut so you don't get infected and make...

What brought you to this site and why do you stay?

My friend was researching angelfish he could put in his brand-new tank, after I saw it I took a look at the forums and I haven't gotten off my computer yet. This is the first forum I've ever joined seriously and (one day and about 50 cups of coffee later) the only reason I've been away from my...

    Odyssea 2006 Model MH Lights

In the instances I've seen where the ballast has indeed caught on fire, it's in a way that no interrupter could have prevented the situation. Most of the time one of the caps in the ballast just decides to explode...pure structural, mechanical error. AFCIs sense erratic currents, or low currents...

    Odyssea 2006 Model MH Lights

Great post FishRule. As an added warning to anyone buying these lights, I just want to point out that this company is selling products that aren't really up to UL standards by any stretch of the imagination. This and Jebo and Odyssea products are constructed in China out of the cheapest humanly...

I might have a mantis, but not sure

just to elaborate...pistol shrimp click rapidly (4 or 5 at a pulse) and mantis snap four times an hour or so at their most active with short, unsustained bursts. Also, at what point in the photoperiod do you hear the snaps? Mantis feed throughout the photoperiod if food is available, pistols are...

    mantis?

Got a mantis in my 12 nano, it's still small and I intend on swapping it into my friends 55 when it gets too big. If you want a mantis and you have a reputable fish dealer by you, just ask for one. Mantis shrimp are a lot like blue ringed octopi in the fact that wholesalers get them but really...
