How many pounds of sand of sand is required to get an inch of sand bed?

My tank dimensions are 60" long by 18" deep. The height is 30". I am going to do a DSB, so I'm going to buy some play sand from Home Depot and seed it with live sand from this website. Would 1 55 pound box of live sand give me an inch of sand bed?

New 175G tank - setup questions..

Hey guys, How many pounds of sand would I need to get a 4 inch DSB? The dimensions are 5 ft x 4 ft x 2ft. How many pounds of live rock would I need as well? I'm looking to turn it into an aggressive tank. It came with 2 Magnum 350 filters and a couple powerheads. The guy I bought it off of...

    Strange behavior from Green Chromii

lol I don't know if it's Chromises or Chromii or just Chromis... But anyways, I have a small school of 3 of them and they just like to huddle around and behind my Ebo Jager heater....all the time. Is this normal? A few times out of every day, a couple of them will swim around the tank, but...

    A terrorizing CBS!

I thought I got a peaceful cbs, but now I realize he's an aggressive bugger! I just got a feather duster and he attacked it (ate one of its branches actually) and then tried to attack a green chromis that was swimming close to the sand! Needless to say, I'm disappointed that I have to return...

    OT - My new computer

You might also want to try www.newegg.com...They have unparalleled service and damn good pricing...especially on cpu's... Antec makes good power supplies, but Enermax is the best IMO. It isn't just me who thinks that either. Do a search for Enermax and I'm sure you will find many positive reviews.

Try Enermax too...those are rock solid and will never fail. Enermax is kinda expensive though...I paid $50-60 for my 350 watt. But I've never had a power issue, and I have 3 cd-roms, 4 hard drives, 3 case fans and a Thermaltake Volcano7+ heatsink running at 6000 rpm running off of it.

    OT - My new computer

There's a lot more a GF4 does over a GF3. I'm not really knowledgeable about the specific differences, but in a nutshell, it has more "pipelines" which in theory allows it to process more data in the same amount of time it would take a GF3...or something like that. If you can wait like a...

    OT - My new computer

You can get a cheap GF4 Ti4200 for under 100, and an 80 gig Western Digital Special Edition for about 80-100 bux. I have (2) of the 120 gig versions, and the 8 megs of cache in them really make a huge difference performance wise. I believe Maxtor has come out with their own line of 8 meg cache...

Cleaner Crew for a 26 gallon tank and a Hello!

Does anyone know if there is a specific reason why? This is my first tank, and when I was at his store, all his tanks had air bubbles only and the fish were doing well. Thanks!

Cleaner Crew for a 26 gallon tank and a Hello!

Hey guys, I just recently registered after reading on all your insightful posts/responses. I have learned a lot since stumbling across this forum. =D What is the ideal cleaning crew for this size tank? Do you think the packages available from SWF are too big for my tank? Also, contrary to what...
