    posting pics

Thought that might be the case, so I just tried to post it without reviewing it, didn't work. I run windows 2000pro, thinking it might have something to do with how the folder permissions are set. I'll talk to our programmer at work, and see what he thinks.

    open brain ejecting slime

finally got it! Sorry for the poor quality, my camera isn't very good.I think you can see it is pretty deflated. Still moving, so at least I know it's alive. The brown on the sand isn't the slime I mentioned, it is leftovers from a bit of a diatom bloom I had a couple weeks ago.

Doesn't error. When I go to preview the reply, it doesn't show up, and the path isn't in the attach box anymore.

Alright, I'm at the end of my rope. Trying to post a pic, but can't seem to figure it out. Made sure the file size is small enough for an attatchment, gave it the path (browse), but won't take it. What am I missing?

    open brain ejecting slime

I have never posted a pic before, so here goes nothing. My camera isn't that great. The brown in the sand is not the slime, it's leftovers from a bit of a diatom bloom I had a couple weeks ago. I had the lights out before I turned them on to take this pic. There was a row of "tentacles" that ran...

    Help...Mechanical Filtration Bad!?

Yes. Put some of the old media in with the new, to "seed" the new media.

    Help...Mechanical Filtration Bad!?

Haven't had the discus tank for over a year now, but I always got really nervous whenever a storm came through. One time the power did go out for over 8 hours. Luckily I was home to take the filter off line after an hour. I guess I would have to agree that 50% water change would be too much, I...

    Help...Mechanical Filtration Bad!?

Don't like the use of canister fliters for those reasons. I would also ditch the biowheel for sure. Do the water change as recommended. Kind of short on live rock and sand for biological filtration, IMO. I used to run an eheim 2250 with nothing but bioballs in it, which worked great in my Discus...

    open brain ejecting slime

I have on open brain coral that I just got yesterday, It seemed to be doing okay, was not totally open - but almost. As I was looking into the tank, it ejected a bunch of brown slime, and deflated to about 1/2 the size it was. I had read something about this a while back, but I don't recall why...

    What am I?

Tiny eel-like creature, about 3/8 inch long, light tan (almost white). I swim like an eel, and am VERY fast. I like to chase flake food around the surface at feeding time.

    Help!! Please!! Protein skimmers

I was going to get the Berlin hang on until I taked to my brother. He said he has to play with it constantly, and is thinking of ditching it. FWIW.

    Help!! Please!! Protein skimmers

Am I the only one who uses a precision marine? I love mine. Quiet, almost never needs adjusting. They now ship with a maxi-jet (used to use rio?), which is what I have.

    Yet another sand question

Thinking about changing from cc to sand. Should not be too difficult, as I only have 1" of cc, and rockwork is suspended above it on 2" pieces of pvc. I wanted to use southdown, but not available here. I was wondering what others have used that is fairly economical (I am always overbudget the...

    Tank backdrop, paint or paper?

Find a color you like, bring a sample into your local building supply store, and have them match it for you (make sure the sample is not shiney). Have them mix up a quart of exterior enamel. Use a foam roller and apply a very thin coat, let dry overnight, and recoat. use several thin coats until...

    Refractometers

Interesting.... All I use is a Coralife Deep 6. I always wondered about the accuracy, so I brought a precision hydrometer home from work that had just come back from being calibrated and certified. Much to my surprise, they read the same! We use refractometers at work, and they work very well...

    Prizm Skimmer

Have not heard very many good things about the prizm, but that is a moot point. I have the same problem with my Precision Marine HOT-1 from time to time. I have found that if I just leave it alone, it gets back to normal within 24-36 hours.

porc puffer reef yes or no?

I know all about the wife thing! Mine has been after me for a couple of years to get one. Can't even take her with to the LFS! Keep in mind how large they get (LFS had one for a few years that was over 18") and they need a lot of room to swim. I think thier appetite for crustaceans has been well...
