This should be on the Newbie board

I have found that sometimes my eels will go a couple days w/o eating. My Fimbriated has not come out for food for about 3 days now. He usually wants food about twice aweek, yours may just not be ready to eat yet. how long have you had him(her)? Try a small strip of fish cut off of a cheap filet...

This should be on the Newbie board

Usually at night when I get home from work, on the weekends they get fed more towards the middle to late afternoon. The eels get usually 1-3 strips of cut fish depending on how hungry they are. Mine cruises around the tank during the day as well as at night, that why I'm kinda partial to the...

This should be on the Newbie board

What I do is start with just dropping a few pieces of food ( vitamin and garlic soaked fish, and shrimp and scallops ) into the tank and when the eels stick their heads out I use some long tongs to get a few pieces to them. Psycho ( my jeweled ) will actually come out to where the food is and...

This should be on the Newbie board

You should be fine with that setup for your eel. I think he'll give you fewer problems than the triggers. That Sagassum is beautiful! Is that a Picasso in there also? You can take him back if you want but They are good looking eels and are fairly active so you will get to see it often. I have a...

This should be on the Newbie board

I have a Jeweled that is now about 20" and he is fine with the rest of my fish. I do make sure that he does get fed well because mine does have a nasty history towards aggression ( he bit 4 people at the lfs ). Once got I got him home and acclimated he is a well adjusted member of my tank. Mine...

Does anyone catch their own sharks?

The main reason I suggested heavier gear than needed was to reduce the time of the fight that way the fish doesnot exhaust itself. I've caught them while trout fishing down here on 6lb line so I know light tackle will work just fine. for this prupose I'm thinking faster is better. If there is a...

Does anyone catch their own sharks?

Live bait, mainly local baitfish 5"-7"will do the trick for sharpnose and blacktips. Again per my suggestion earlier use large circle hooks that way there is less chance of the sharks swallowing it. Gamakatsu make some really good wire circle hooks ( very sharp and strong ). For line I would...

    Did I Get Ripped Off!!!!!!!!!!

    Did I Get Ripped Off!!!!!!!!!!

Each region has diferent pricings, I personally have never seen a 15" SLE around my area so I would think that you paid a decent price. The only way to truly judge is to compare prices at diferent fish stores in your area. If they are all reasonably similiar price wise then you got a good deal...

    are these crabs reef safe

Sounds like just your common hermit crabs, They are fairly aggressive. I have several of these ( and a restriced species license ) and have seen one take down a feeder fish. I do not actually know if they are illegal to take I could not find anything in my regulations about hermits, but I would...

    Need trigger advice!

I have 3 triggers in my tank and I love my Picasso's colors and nonaggressive personality. I also have a clown and niger trigger. All 3 are are very cool to watch. My vote for the colors goes to the clown, and aggression goes to my niger, he doesn't know he supposed to be one of the "passive"...

Does anyone catch their own sharks?

IMO catching your own would place too much strees on the sharks plus the sharks you would catch would get too large for most aquariums. The smaller coastal sharks in your state would be the Atlantic Sharpnose and the Bonnethead sharks. Both of them can commonly reach 3ft or more and would need...

an interesting article about Atlantic Ocean lionfish

I've read a couple articles in diferent magazines about populations of lionfish off of the Carolinas. If they are there then it would not be hard for them to move north. The big question would be how did they get into the ecosystem in the first place. One article that was in a fishing mag...

    Opinions please

Cool thanks, I've decided against adding anything else to the tank. But I do appreciate the input. I have always liked the Koran angels but as I stated earlier I had no experience with them and did not know anyone that had any.

    CTF (Cruelty To Fish)

Sorry If I come across as a jerk. Did not mean to sound preachy. I just believe certain animals should not be caged/tanked.

    CTF (Cruelty To Fish)

Having some knowledge of sharks I would not even want to guess what size tank ANY requiem shark would need. I would recomend that anyone that wants to see a blacktip should do so with a mask and fins or at a professional aquarium.
