Firefish question

My firefish used to live under a rock until I got more live rock. At that point, they moved on up to the east side! Once they had their burrow dug, they didn't bother any other substrate. Mine have never gone to the other extreme and tried to jump out, either. They are very content to hang...

    Damsels

From my personal experience as well as a close friends, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I wouldn't do it. One killed her cowfish and terrorized all the others. He killed my firefish and terrorized all the others. They are a very pretty fish, but if you want to get one, stand by with a net handy ready to get...

    Catilina Goby?

I agree with Brooklyn Johnny....this is the reason I didn't get one. I think they are a beautiful little fish, but I keep my tank warmer than what I think they would be comfortable in. :(

Flame angel in a reef tank?

I had a coral beauty that did not bother any of my corals. It is a beautiful dwarf angel as well and is one of the more peaceful dwarfs. Mine was no problem at all. It ate algae off the live rock, but that's as close as it ever came to nibbling on stuff! :D

    Dust on Live Rock

Well it's a little more comforting to know that I'm not the only one with this "bad housekeeping" problem!

    Jumping or starving fish?

If you look back through my posts, you'll see that I absolutely LOVE my two firefish. They are exceptionally hardy and have never tried to jump from my tank that I have seen. As a matter of fact, they hardly ever venture further than halfway to the top. They tend to hide out under their rock...

    Aiptasia and Vinegar

I think I may try the peppermint shrimp first. I wish I had a copperband butterfly! A friend has one and it eats the aiptasia up like you've never seen! I was over one night, and he put a piece of small live rock from another tank into his main tank to show us how it did. He went straight...

    Dust on Live Rock

Right now I just have a 50/50 light. We are waiting on our new lighting to arrive. Our new lights were supposed to be here a week ago, but they are backordered. They should be here this coming Wednesday. Will better lighting help in some way? There is no sand in my tank, only aragonite...

    Aiptasia and Vinegar

Will peppermint shrimp do the trick? Will they go after even the really big aiptasia? The biggest one I have right now is about 1 1/2 inches tall.

    Aiptasia and Vinegar

okay.....now the search is on to find a syringe. No way am I pulling those suckers off. They'll get lethal injection and they'll like it!

    Dust on Live Rock

So that's all it is? Dust? The only fish I have in the tank right now are 2 firefish gobies. They live in the rock on the other end of the tank. Thanks for your responses!

    Dust on Live Rock

I've got one piece of live rock in particular (although all are affected) that looks like someone has dumped a full vacuum cleaner bag of dust on top of it. I mean, if this was an end table, it would be like not dusting for a couple of months. What is it exactly? Can I clean it off or should...

    Aiptasia and Vinegar

Has anyone here injected aiptasia with vinegar? If so, how did it turn out?

    Propagating green star polyps

I had some new growth on my green star polyps that I recently cut away. I simply got a pair of small sharp scissors and cut off what was hanging and laid it across another rock. No glue or anything. It's growing like crazy and attaching itself. A few days later I got the scissors back out...

    can gobies get ick?

I had 5 fish in my tank. All but my two firefish gobies got ick and died in the past week. I lost a naso tang, coral beauty and percula. The firefish are just happily swimming around with no signs whatsoever of the ick. However, I could go home and be sorely disappointed. I'm keeping my...

Fit as a fiddle to Dead as a doornail in 24 hours flat

Now my coral beauty has what looks like some kind of fin rot going on! One of her fins is looking shredded and ragged on ends. Her tail fin has like a chunk missing, although she's only in there with firefish and a percula. I don't believe they would be the culprits in this case.

Fit as a fiddle to Dead as a doornail in 24 hours flat

My naso tang went kaput in a 24 hour period. I noticed white specks on his fins and "brow line" on Wednesday night. Thursday he was hanging out at top of tank but still seemed okay other than specks. Thursday afternoon he was covered with a lot more specks and started breathing heavier/more...
