    *****High alkalinity HELP******

I have heard that there is a bad batch of Salifert Alkalinity test kits going around and that the owner of Salifert is not answering phone calls or emails. If you ever get a crazy test reading and everything looks fine - double check it with another test. The same applies if something is wrong...

    LPS all receding

What is your salinity? I would have a fellow reefer or your LFS recheck all of your levels to make sure your tests are accurate.

    My 29 BioCube UPDATED PICS

Awesome P.D.! Your tank looks great! I need to get a decent host for my clowns. I would love to find a RBTA, but I don't want to buy one online I want to find one in person. I'll be starting a thread soon for my 90 gal. - It has been running with fish and corals for about one month now...

adding dead rock to existing tank?

I bought dead rock (Marco rock) and it cycled very hard - lots of ammonia. I even washed it off prior to putting it in my tank. If you're placing it in an established system you will be risking everything. I would place it in a separate container for a week first and see if you get an ammonia...

    how does this work...

If you plan on having an acyrlic tank then just make the back solid black. If it is going to be glass I think you will have a hard time hiding where you glued it even if you glue it over paint it may still show through.

    Best Method of Filtration?

The best filtration for any tank (in my opinion) is: ~1-1.5 pounds of live rock per gallon high flow (20-40 times turnover) a refugium on a reverse photo-period growing some sort of macro algae an appropriate protein skimmer for the given water volume a regular water change schedule (1% every...

Diatoms vs Cyanobacteria?? - Pics included

It is definitely diatom without a shadow of a doubt - it is not cyanobacteria. 10% weekly water changes is great, but maybe for the time being up it to 20-25% weekly to help speed the process along and siphon out as much as possible each time. You have plenty of flow and unless you have two...

Diatoms vs Cyanobacteria?? - Pics included

It is definitely diatom - I would not add the ChemiClean. It should go away with time with regular water changes and siphoning and different creatures that will eat it.
