    Damels first?

If you are going to have a reef or any rockwork do not put anything in the tank you don't wnat to stay there. I made this mistake when I first started and I had to tear apart my tank to get out the bully who was harassing everything els I put in there.

    Tangs in 20l

I'd like to know if it OK for me to keep a cheetah in my bathroom. It doesn't have that much room to run but neither does it have that at the zoo. My bathroom is still pretty new but I think it will be OK because it has a big window. Please keep in mind when replying to this plea for opinons...

I can't keep Xenia and Polyps

I wonder, though, are the polyps in question succeptible to iodine deficiencies too? I tried the iodone route in the past and that didn't seem to be the problem. My alk is on the low end though so maybe I'll work on that. I just hate changing anything though since everything else is happy. On...

    Purple Mushroom

It will reproduce like crazy too. So find some friends who want them and be ready to give them out as stocking stuffers. I got a tiny one from somenone when I started my current tank about 18 months ago and now they are everywhere and I pull them out and give them away to everyone who walks down...

I can't keep Xenia and Polyps

Here's a tough one I can't crack. Everything I put in my tank thrives except for Xenia, which I know can be touchy, and almost any kind of polyps other than star polyps. I have tried a few different buttons, yellow polyps etc. and they always die off slowly. Can anyone think of any water...

    coral beauty with corals?

I've had one in my tank for a year (also at the request of my wife) and it has never bothered anything but I do not have any SPS so I can't give testimony for that. It has never bothered any softies or my LPS though.

    red slime remover usage?

I had to use chemi clean once and it worked perfectly and I had no problems with any of my coral or fish.

    The Coolest Thing

I agree with peanut worms. I have a rock that has a few of them and they are very weird.

    OT Tigers as pets?

No way!! As has been said they get too big for one person to handle and they become too restricted and not fed properly. Last sunday on National Geographic there was a special about idiots with tigers etc at their homes and about all the problems from dead children and dying tigers that come...

my controversial thoughts on bubble algae

Maybe the emeralds also feed on the spores before they become full grown bubble algae bubbles. Maybe that the icing on the bubble algae oreo for them. it could be that they just eat the bubble to get to the spores. I think I'll do a study on this and have it published.:D

    ID Please:

I do have to agree with Bang that it does look much more symmetrical than you would expect for one of them. I have had a rash of them lately that I've been pulling out and none have looked as "well formed" as that. The coloration and size do look familiar though and maybe it is related if not...

advise on how to move a tank

When you carry the tank I suggest putting it on a piece of wood and carrying it like a stretcher. The slightest bit of twisting can cause a leak and you probably won't know about it until you have it all full and running again. Definitely don't move it with even a little bit of water in it either.

    starting a reef

Those are excellent starter corals. In fact the same ones I started with. You have plenty enough lighting for either and both are pretty easy to care for with DT's or microvert or something. Good luck.

So who doesn't do water changes?

How many of you have abandoned or scaled back water changes? I have scaled mine back and only do them every few months or as tests dictate them. I was wondering what anyone else is doing. I have found the less I fiddle with my tank the happier everything seems to be. Perhaps everything is right...

    Question about peppermint shrimp

I always had the same experience with my peps and since I haven't seen them in a while I assume that they are no longer in there. I second the idea about a scarlett cleaner. Mine is always out doing something crazy when i feed them he scurries upside down across the top of the water and snatches...

got a question for you pro's!

Even if the rock is cured the tank will still need to cycle and the fish will, most likely, die then. The rock may not cause the cycle if it is cured but feeding and waste will cause it to happen. It will need to happen because the water chemistry is not right to break down the waste etc. so the...
