    yellowtail blue damsel/So boring!!

I had a YT damsel for about a year and what you describe is all he/she did. It staked out a nice place and lived to defend its turf. It ate, swam a bit, and hid out in its cave. That was its personality.

    New tank - suggestions?

If the tank is brand new you will have to feed the crabs if you put them in right away.

    Mixing

For me, I would always mix in a container. THere could be undisolved solids left behind and who knows how long it would take to disolve in your tank. Your SG readings could be off longer if mixed in a tank..

    FOWLR to reef

I am doing the same. I did a Search on books. I picked up several on corals and just started reading. I also picked up a test kit for Alk and Magnesium as well as calcium and phospates. I'll read and test while I save money for the lights.

    Sump help

I've seen some with a foam pad between baffles of section 1 and 2 to cut out the bubbles.

Frustrated with setting up a new tank *

Bill, if you just need to filter the debris from the tank overnight then any mechanical filter will help. Not knowing what was on the 12 gal I can't guess how long it would take to clear the tank but it would be better than nothing at all and by some time while you figure out what to do long term.

Which Pump for Aqua C Skimmer

For my 72 BF I tried the 1200 and did the skimmer box but did not go with the drain attachment. I did not like the set up at all. I think the smaller pump did not push the volume I needed and I shortened the distance of the pump to surface as much as I could. I also did not like the noise of...

    Drilling Holes in live Rock

To keep the entire pinned pilel from falling down as one larger unit do you anchor it to some base? I was thinking of a piece of plexiglass of sorts to epoxy the PVC rod to. Then the stone plus sand would hold it in place. The expoxy would be fish safe.

sick and tired of micro bubbles...

another thought.... are you filling the return tube and j tube completely? If the diameter changes from small to large and if for some reason you have air at the end in the J-tube you could be mixing air at that end.

sick and tired of micro bubbles...

If it's not a lose connection and if it is not a hole in the tube then it could be that the pump is letting air in or pass through. If the pump is totally submerged then can you tell us if you have bubbles in your wet dry section that has the pump? What Saltn00b was saying by baffle I think...

    Help!!!!!!!

From my personal experience I only had green hair algea pop up 4 months into my new tank because I used tap water (not RO/DI) and sun light right on my tank. I never have had corline chaneg color from purple to white. I never had phosphates that high. So what type water are you using?

best place to buy a new tank?

I saw on craigs list where a dealer from mass had to sell more tanks to keep his ability to sell wholesale active. He was offering to quote at cost any set up. I gave him a few setups I liked and his prices came back way below my LFS.

    another heater

Are you moving the digital to different locations (close to lights, flow, etc)? The digital will be more sensitive in what it displays as it is made to show more units of measure where the stick has a "range" so it won't flucuate until you hit a certain variance. Try the digital in a calmer...

RO/DI water... what are the costs?!

Interesting method and I think that is something I could make work. I would still have to haul buckets around but I wouldn't waste as much as I thought.

    Help with tank setup

I use coralife super skimmers and for the $80 or less I think it is a good deal. It out performed my aqua C Remora which was about $200. The SS can work HOT or in sump.

5000 fish a week...damn that seems like alot!

Does sound high but if you think about how many LFS there are in each town in each state in just teh USA and how many tanks we all have and how many pklaces you could collect the fish in the wild.... I guess it does add up. But I do like your thoughts around the more comman and less costly fish...

    Don't Skip

I'd wait it out. Why risk spreading it to the other tank as well.
