The tank that I am getting has crushed coral and I have to move it anyways so I wondered if I am doing a reef tank do I need Live sand. Also I heard that u can buy normal sand for the majority of the tank and put the live sand on top of that and make the rest live. Is this true and what normal...

I just saw my new 75 gal tank that I got from a friend that has been running for 2 years or more. They have this rusty red algea thing taking over the sand and rock. Is it good, which I don't think it is that and how do I remove it.:confused:

Why do clear shrip and their relatives cost so darn much they cost more than some fish(yellow tangs)? DO they do alot for the tanks or what?

its my mom's friend tank and I am seeing it for the 1st time tomarow. All I know is that she has 150 lbs of live rock and 4 inches (depth)of live sand. SHe probably has a good light for the tank cuz her hubby is verey into it. Im not sure but I ll post it tomarow.
