You'd say I'm probably insane with this idea.

...in the tank as well? I'm hoping I can throw in a percula Clownfish, but I'm thinking it's not such a good idea, and would there be a list of gobies otherwise that can fit in a 5 gallon? What kind of filtration would you use as well? Would this be expensive due to constant WCs on the small...

    Sleeper Goby making a mess!

...unless you have a well established tank their won't be much in the sand for him just yet. Quite a few people have adjusted even sand sifting gobies to bare bottom tho so assuming you make sure he's eating during feeding he should be fine. However if your substrate large than 3.5 mm it can be...

Which fish, for 10 gal tank?

2 clown fish occelaris that aren’t wild, not that you’ll find them but they can get to the size of a softball. Yellow blue damsels, fire fish, basslets, & gobies. I would recommend gobies that don’t sand sift, those things will make sandstorms in nanos.

    goby question

You still would be best to avoid sand sifters like diamond gobies. They don’t eat detritus in the sand but the critters living in it. They will deplete the sand bed of those organisms quickly then slowly die because the can’t get enough food, even if they eat prepared foods, they need a...

    goby question

Thanks.... I probably did not state that my substrate is very deep sand.. I just saved a lot of small pieces of dead coral for the goby's burrow. would that work? My concern: How's the goby chose his spot to burrow in? How can I direct him to the best spot?

    goby question

Diamond gobies do poorly in captivity and absolutely won’t work in a tank with crushed coral. They are sand sifters. sifting sand through their gills is how they get their food. They will very quickly deplete the food in a tank. crushed Coral is not a good substrate for the majority of...

Random Assortment of Observations and Questions

I’ve never had an issue with gobies jumping. Shrimp gobies pretty much stay at the bottom near their cave. Clown gobies stay in the rocks. You don't want to cover your tank with a solid cover because it decreases gas exchange resulting in a lot of issues even fish death. You can purchase...

...You need a 5-6 foot tank for these fish. The key to more fish is to research their habbits. Ok. Thanks for the feedback. I’m aiming for the largest color range and compatibility as possible for my tank. Hopefully at least two larger fish and maybe one school, possibly some green chromis. What about that? Also, I don’t have space for a QT. Any suggestions on that?

...tolerate each other. Flame angel yes but no other dwarf angels. Emperor angel no (you need at least a 220 for the emperor or the blue tang) Gobies and sand sifters are great but do better in a more established tank, especially the sand sifters. A yellow shrimp goby would probably do fine you...
