Coral In my first Marine tank

It can be achieved but you need to expect some setbacks occasionally - ie "learning opportunities" :p Take a look around here at some of the pictures. See if you can fine something you like. Then, ask the person who owns the picture their methods. Seek advice from others but compare that...

Coral In my first Marine tank

I agree that synthetic corals are not very satisfying. First, tell us what you would like your mini coral reef to end up looking like.

    Trial run of "AcroPower"

I'm sure Julian put a lot more research into it that Marc Weiss. Just FYI - In the old days of reefing it was discovered that dosing fructose caused coral polyps to swell. It didn't make them healthier, probably the opposite, but it does make them expand more.

    water changes

I hope a year from now you can send me a picture of all six of your Clownfish happily huddled together to tell me I was wrong. I predict you will start losing fish to various causes, none of which you will be responsible for. Just random acts out of your control killing your fish.

Cant figure out cause of green hair algae on sand...test done.

Kinda. It's actually the amount of nutrition you add to the tank that matters. A large tank with two small fish isn't going to need a scrubber as large as what a smaller tank with 10 fish is going to need. But even if it' not as large as you would like a smaller one will still help.

    water changes

I think that's great that all of your fish are currently doing well, I really do. An example of things working out despite going against advice. Just because it worked once is not a good reason to start advising that it's good practice. A few years ago a guy jumped off Niagara Falls and swam...

It might just be me but I tend to avoid the advice of people who blame their tank crash on regular water changes.

    Should I Adjust pH?

As a parting opinion, 7.8 isn't a bad PH reading. Especially if it's that stable. Ideally it would be nice to be 8.0 or above but I wouldn't worry too much about 7.8. That said, a good skimmer adds a LOT of value to a saltwater system.

Why bother trying to eliminate it? Just live with it. Think of it as a phosphate sponge that further polishes your water.

    Cycling tank

The bacteria are already in the tank or the ammonia wouldn't read zero. Just need to continue to feed them so the colony can mature and stabilize. There's no damage that I've experienced. Can you elaborate on your negative experiences with ghost feeding? What happened? How many tanks have...

    Cycling tank

Just continue to ghost feed. You don't need the big ammonia spike from a dead shrimp. You already kick started the cycle with the ghost feeding, the bacteria colonies are growing. Just stay on the path and the tank will healthy long term.

    Should I Adjust pH?

As long as you address the salt creep issue I don't believe a moderate amount of bubbles is a problem. It certainly increases waterflow. Personally, I don't like dealing with salt creep so no bubbles in the display tank for me.

    Should I Adjust pH?

One other thought - Take the PH reading at three different times, morning, noon, night. Does it change a lot? Take a small container of your tank water outside. Stir it up real good and let it sit an hour outside in the shade. Check the PH. If the PH rises significantly then part of the...
