    Need Calculation

By the way, we would really need to know your size tank and your head height- the height between your sump bottom and your return plumbing top nozzle to really do much calculation

    Need Calculation

If your going to take your tank down and drill it, go with a bean animal overflow and a coast to coast surface skimmer. You can find directions on the Internet.

    New 75g Reef Tank

I went to the fish store this morning. I didn't get my water tested but I did buy two turbo snails. Lol. They acclimated and took right off and attached to the glass. Good sign the tank is either cycled or almost cycled. I'll get a few peppermints soon to take care of the aiptasia problem...

    Whats your favorite fish?

A Dr. Seuss soap fish is only $3,000. But if it dies in your tank it will release all kinds of bad toxins that will nuke your tank.

I answer phone calls that I don't know the number to with "City Morgue." Usually it stops sales people in their tracks.

    Question about heaters.

Is your heater set on exactly the temp you want? How do you know it's turning off? What device are you using to take the temp?

    New 75g Reef Tank

More hair algae growing on the glass. That's ok though for now. I'll buy some phosban and get my reactor online soon. I'm going to break down and have my water tested this weekend to see where it's at so that I can possibly get a few snails and a couple peppermint shrimps this weekend. I am...

    LED vs. T5HO

I guess I'll have to find that thread your talking about. I have a friend that is using 4 units of 5, 3w CREE LEDs over his tank... Roughly 60 watts of LED over a 180g tank with SPS and other Lps and an anemone. I don't see how. I guess corals adapt.

    LED vs. T5HO

I'm thinking that it's possible that two of those orbits might be enough to grow some SPS in the upper half of the tank. My wife wants a bunch of soft corals and LPS corals - stuff that moves. So Im considering the orbit at this point and keeping the two bulb T5 unit for extra light. Maybe...

    canister filter on a 20g?

No. Canisters require a lot of maintenance and the filter media is not cheap. It's your call, but I feel like an Emperor 280 would be a much better choice.

You know your a fish keeper when,..

You know your a fish keeper when,.... You have to explain at the checkout that your not canning pickles, your putting it in your fish tank. You get eyeballed when you ask the big box store clerk where the tanks with holes in them are

    LED vs. T5HO

Montipora is a light loving coral. Since your monti isn't growing then the light may not be enough for light loving SPS corals

    LED vs. T5HO

    Montipora is an SPS coral.

I'm considering this unit and replacing the bulbs. I don't know how wide this unit is yet though.

    Identifying Zoanthids- Help!

Yep. They are zoanthids. ;) Some people might tell you they are radioactive dragon eye purple people eaters or gorilla nipples or some idiotic name used to sell them. What truly matters is that they are zoanthids and they have certain feeding, lighting and flow requirements. Research that and...
