    ID This Coral?

I believe Goniopora has 24 tentacles per polyp and Alveopora has 12. Off the top of my head I'd say it's not a Goni. Not sure it's Alveopora either.

ich- what exact methods do we know for sure work?

I believe you are right. They are nearly microscopic so I doubt a Cleaner Shrimp could see them. The white spots we see are their bodies reaction to the parasite, not the parasite itself.

Take a look at the 200DD build thread. The 300DD tank looks amazing to me if you're thinking 300 gallons.

Yep, "generally" is the right wording. I just didn't want anyone thinking 200ppm isn't going to be a problem.

Yes, custom tanks are going to cost a lot more. Generally, they are better made and you get exactly what you want.

with glass it's the weight that becomes overwhelming for stock tanks. There is no limit with glass for custom tanks though.

Not 100% accurate. Although normal nitrite & nitrate levels are harmless to saltwater fish extreme levels can be dangerous. I do agree with you that generally nitrite and nitrate will not kill fish.

I do all of my annual deer harvest from my back yard.

Generally (with many exceptions) fish grow to 90% of their max size during the first 10% of their lifespan. So a Naso that grows to 18" and typically lives 60 years would grow to about 16" in the first 6 years.

    Your one peice of advice?

Do not be a minimalist. Examples include: Trying to get fish into the tank in the shortest amount of time. Putting a fish that needs a minimum of a 4' tank in a 4' tank. Minimimum waterflow, lighting, etc. Do you really just want to just barely make it or do you want the animals in your...

Oh yes, I am 100% behind acclimating coral to changes in lighting. I agree they need to be gradually acclimated to a new environment. I just don't believe they can't be acclimated to the more intense lighting systems, even mushroom corals.

I've never seen a good LFS that shares water between fish & inverts. If they did I wouldn't shop there.

I have not and would not. It's your tank and your fish though.

I was going to show one but once I pulled up the picture from my library I realized it was a Sohol. Regardless, I keep repeating my experience, it's not the size of the fish, it's the swimming pattern. Some fish require more swimming space even when small juveniles. To be honest, I...

Hey Bryce. I don't think what you hear is actually true. I've got an open mind but seeing corals exposed to direct sunlight at noon during low tide leads me to believe that most corals can adapt to just about anything.

end of hunting season, good memories.

I have a bunch of skulls. I only had one mounted and even that was just a skullcap. I mostly just harvest doe as that's my eating preference. I had a good chance at a nice piebald once but decided to let it go and just took a picture of it instead. That one I might have taken to a taxidermist.

    Peppermint shrimp

I have heard of real Peppermint Shrimp damaging corals. There are 5 or so species of Cleaner Shrimp commonly called Peppermint Shrimp. Lysmata wurdemanni are the ones you want. Personally, I've had many, many L. wurdemanni in my reef and never had an issue. I do believe it happens though...

Exactly where do bubble tip anemone like to perch?

They are stunningly beautiful and can do very very well in a tank like yours. I know quite a few people that have had great success with this animal but all of them report their Carpet having the occasional expensive meal. I've never had the fortitude to try one so all I have are third person...

Exactly where do bubble tip anemone like to perch?

The mouth should not be wide open. It's called gaping and is a sign of severe stress. Hopefully it's just from being moved. If it will eat then feed it but if it's not sticky don't try to force feed it. It will be really sticky if it's hungry. These anemone are very dangerous to fish. Is...

Hard to tell with that description. I would guess it's either coralline algae or a sponge.
