    I always test my lfs's for water quality. One store here keeps there fish in hypo-salinity and also had an amonia spike when I purchased a fish from them one time. Never been back. LFS are in business to make $$$$. Be carefull who you buy from.

    I had a spike when my skimmer pump propeller broke and I did not catch it for a couple days. My skimmer was offline for a week while I ordered my replacement. I was doing small water changes while it was shipped out but it still didn't help. I'm going to purchase a spare pump for emergencys...

    I like to 10k for the brightness but the blue actinic to make corals pop is awsome. The 14k looks better to me.

    It will increase mag but I believe it also intoduces silicates into the system. Can't remember for sure so hopfully someone else will chime in.

    Increase flow and keep up on water changes. Tank is young.

    What are external pumps for?

    external pumps are used to lower the exchange of heat into the water. I run a in-sump mag pump which will transfer heat into the water. I would recommend an external pump if your having issues with water overheating.

    AquaC ev240 skimmer

    Call Aqua C and purchase the 1 inch injector(cost is $10) but the performance will be worth it. These skimmers take back pressure to perform.
