Look to be sponges to me , I have a rock that has about 15 or 20 of them on there. They seem to stay white and do better if they stay back in a dark place. Most of mine are back in a rock that has a cave in it, look cool like it's a sponge factory.

I must say as the two before me, don't let the rock sit out in the open air much at all.

I just did this when i changed from a 55gl to a 125. I had about 120lb. of good rock that I put in the the tank and the sand was not live. All went in with in a week and never did get a cycling. The way I look at it, is if the rock is really good then its allmost starving for stuff to eat-up...

The closer the better I think, but most seem to have them about 3 to 4 inch. At least mine are someplace between 3 to 4. I got a Nova Extreme Pro and the brackets that came with it hold them about there.

I just got my 72" pro a couple days ago and my softies are trying to pop right out of there skins. Its kinda of a new tank and just in the prossess of stalking it. I don't know what the reg. Extreame look like, but i am happy.

I just use real hot water, as close to boiling and then shot em up with it.

I did mine with the blue spray paint, and very happy with it.

I started with freshwater as a kid and loved it. Bred some fish and then got a freshwater lobster that ate all my fish and had to get a 55Gal to house him. But reef tanks allways seem just way to cool to have, more then the fish even.

Not trying to Hijack your thread Hops but lost a shoom someplace. Can you rubberband a softy to a rock, or with that hurt them or they slime out of that as well?

I have the same thing going on with my shroom that has now blown back behind my rock and can't see him anymore.

I guess the title says it all, what are some of the ways to quiet the drain down? I just have the flex pipe stuff hoked to the drains and no gate valves on them.

I have mine showing up Tuesday and still havent found out if 3 lights come on with one switch or 2 and 4 or what? Just trying to think if I need to get some better bulbs for it.

After that was done I got the cleaning crew back in there that came from SWF and they got the rock back in shape sitting in the tub for a couple weeks. Tank never did cycle I guess being that the rock was form old tank. Then wife and I went and got a few softys to look at till my lights show up...
