my live sand isnt hard to keep populated with microorganisms simply because i dont have anything that eats them. i have tons of different types of animals and worms living in my sand bed, and i see more and more all the time.

impressive work maverick! i made my stand tall too... i was tired of having to sit down to look at it. it is 41" tall, and i love it! as far as color goes, im a stain person myself, but if you must paint it, i would think a dark color would make the bright colors of the tank stand out.

i moved my 55 just like SaGxMAN said he did. drain it and only leave enough water to cover your sand. keep as much of your water as possible, but a water change may be in order b/c youre gonna foul up the water quite a bit during the move. good luck!

a friend of mine has had one particular mexican turbo for about 2 years now... its huge... one of the largest i have ever seen at about 2.5-3 inches in diameter... she keeps her tank at about 77-79. i have had several in my day. i currently only have one which seems to be doing ok. my tank...

definately do some research on the mexican turbo's... i have read that they come from cooler waters and dont survive well in our reef tanks where the temp is 78-80. i havent had any luck with them, and i have determined that the stress involved in moving them from the cooler water to my warmer...
