240 Gallon "Rectangle of Life" Tank Diary

New Addition: Added a Purple Tang to the tank yesterday. It was a fish from a close friends tank, so it went straight in as he has no problems with his tank. She's already swimming about. My girl saw it on "Tanked" and I couldn't talk her down so in she went.

how to make a selfsustaining ecosystem for salt water fish tank???

Quote: Originally Posted by Bang Guy Yes it is possible. The problem is that you need a whole lotta saltwater habitat to sustain even a single small fish or small colony of coral. I agree, you put 1 clownfish in a 2000 gallon tank, I think it would sustain itself very well... HEHE!

    Opinion on my Hammer Coral

As for your zoas I would look into Joker Palys as the purpleish blue ones with green skirts. And its possible you have Captain America Zoas in the one pic. Lighting is tricky with zoas as they can fade and grow color depending on the light they are under.

Where to buy a good setup??????

    Killer Bubble Coral

I feed my bubble coral 1/2 a silverside twice a week, every other week. On the opposite week I feed a jumbo krill piece twice a week. I agree with what was said before, outside of an anemone a healthy fish should not become coral food.

    Opinion on my Hammer Coral

It's fine, the reason the color is not as bright is because the tissue has stretched once the coral started to take in the tank water. It looks plenty happy to me. I have Kryptonite, Aussie Golden, Yellow Torches. Along with Bicolor Hammers, and Frogspawn, they all lose some color as they expand.

The fish that I have are not normally in stock. I ordered them through a friend which means I get them at cost, which believe me is still not cheap with these 2. However, it's not his fault, as he ordered them and sometimes the distributor doesn't bag everything on the invoice. They were still...

Well they didn't ship the Rhomboid as they said they would. Disappointing.... Add to that, that it has been 2 days since I have seen my Lineatus Wrasse and it is making for a less than optimal day for me.
