    Free stuff!!! . . . . (kinda)

I am not really interested in selling any, nor shipping. This kinda stuff can usually be purchased at LFS for like $3 a pound. It would not be worth it to ship it. That and I am not moving until the end of august, and I dont want to give it out quite yet. But if you are still interested then...

    20 gal and fish?

I am not too sure what to think of the previous post. It has some good points, but some bad ones as well. The addition of LR and LS does not double the bio-load capacity of a fish by any means, if anything it reduces it because it decreases water volume. Anyway . . . I have a 20H tank with...

    Free stuff!!! . . . . (kinda)

I live in detroit, MI and am moving in a couple weeks. I have come to a couple decisions. 1. I am going to switch to a new tank, with a new DSB. Hence, the old dsb is no longer needed. It has been up for over a year and is heavily populated with inafuna. I am willing to help out anyone...

    The NANO Police!

I too started my tank hobby with a nano reef. I have a 20H that has been set up for a year, but I consider myseld a hobbiest for a year and a half or so. I spent so much time reseraching and reading before i even had a tank, let alone filled with water. As you mentioned, homework is key . ...

    Tank appraissal

I agree . . . if it were me, I would sell the livestock and keep all of the hardware. That way you can set it up at a later point in time. Unless you need the cash.

    Finally picutres of my tank.

I am planning on moving mine soon, another thought is to keep the hardware and then set it up again. Its kinda fun to start new tanks.

    Button Polyp changing?

I have the same corals, got em as a hitchhiker on LR. Mine do this periodically as well, but I cant explain whats going on. As far as the base spreading/enlarging, I am pretty sure this is how this coral spreads. HTH Justin

    IceProbe Chiller

Do you have AC? Water takes much longer to heat than it does to cool with the use of fans, so keep that in mind. If you know that it is going to be really hot one day, then dont turn the lights on, or shorten the photoperiod.

    The NANO Police!

Alright . . . it seems that this forum has gained in some popularity and has stuck around for a bit now. I am really glad for this as I find nano tanks a great facet of this hobby. But I see so many people asking the same questions over and over again, and it seems like people are not paying...

Type of Lighting Do i Need?

True . . . . fish are non-photosynthetic so they dont need high powered lighting. The standard lighting that comes with aquariums will be fine. HOWEVER . . . . since you are not going to be buying strong lighting, I would strongly encourage you to purchase a bigger tank. 10 gallons is small...

    IceProbe Chiller

You wont even need one with a pendant. Set it up with all the equipment and only water . . . nothing living, and let it run for a couple days. I am willing to bet that your water temps will be fine.

    Toadstool went limp

It should be . . . how long has it been in the system and what conditions is it in as far as current goes?

    IceProbe Chiller

I have heard good things about it. BUT . . . I am almost positive that it would not fit into a bak pak. What kind of lights are you planning on running? I run 2x75w VHO with a ballast mounted in the canopy over my 20H and I dont have ANY heat issues. It has been over 80 here, and all I do is...

    Finally picutres of my tank.

I think that your tank looks like its in great shape! I really wish that I had gotten into reefing when I was your age because by now, I would be an expert! Look at it that way . . . by the time you are half as old as some of the members areound here, you will be awesome at this and have the...

alk/ph/ca - am I on the right track?

I mix them into my top off, and drip it in. If you add the supplements too fast, they precipitate out of solution and actually lower your levels.

looking for suggestions for a 3 gal

there is a huge difference between the two. A sexy shrimp i BELIEVE has a translucent body where as a harlequin has an opaque body that is white with pink spots. Also the harlequins have very large flat front claws. They are VERY pretty IMO. HTH Justin (did I just say pretty? . . . . I...

alk/ph/ca - am I on the right track?

IMO the chemistry of a reeftank is by far the most difficult maintenance routine to really become an expert it. It is simply not an easy thing to do for the average hobbiest. I think that for you, the first step is going to be to get yourself some reliable and accurate test kits. Salifert...
