Just showing off the new galaxea...

Just an FYI . . . . that is definitely not a galaxea coral. That is an elegance coral. And unfortunately they fall into the same category as gonipora as far as degree of difficulty goes. :(

    wondering about sps and clams

There is a lot more to keeping both SPS corals and clams than just lighting. Water quality is just as important if not more so IMO. I think that this is firmly reinforced by the clams that are kept under anything less than MH. Clams as well as SPS need very stable water conditions, as well as...

looking for suggestions for a 3 gal

3 gallons = no fish. That would simply be cruel to a fish to give it so little swimming room. JMO Harlequins only eat starfish and would probably not survive in a 30 gallon, let alone a 3 gallon. I think that under that light, most soft corals would do quite well. I would stick to a couple...

    Positioning the Powerhead

I have two powerheads in my tank. I think that a single 900 will be ok . . . . not the best, but it will do the job. Put it in the opposite corner from the powerfilter and have it blow across the tank at a diagonal. This will make the most out of yor water flow. But as previously stated it...

Uninterruptible Power Supplies FS / T

I have often thought about purchasing one of these for my tank. I have a 20H. The only things that I would want to run on it would be a heater and possibly a maxi jet 400. No big pumps, no skimmer, no lights. Just the bare essentials. I noticed that you have a 20 also, and I am very...

    Calcareous algae

The toothbrush thing is an idea that works, but I used a product called Aragamilk . . . . I couldnt keep the stuff under control. A friend experienced the same results. However, the stuff isnt much good for anything else IMO. Justin

    Keeping pink brains pink

Bd Mine did the same thing . . . bleached out then grew to twice its original size. I have heard this from numerous people on this board so I am going to guess that its an acclimation process maybe. Justin

Our tanks were born on the same day! I'll post a picture of it if I can find one . . . . same size as yours minus 100 gallons!;)

    buildign this tank

Still not sure that I grasp whats going on here. What is the raised portion for off center left? Also . . . about how big overall, how many gallons are you looking to get out of it . . . . how permanant is this tank going to be, etc. etc. Justin

    Keeping pink brains pink

It sounds to me like they are trying to sell something. I have never heard of additions of iron to a reef tank for any reason, and IMO I would think that it would be a bad idea. However . . . . . I am not totally sure on this. Perhaps there is someone with a more definite answer. HTH Justin

    Aqua D-Light VHO

My initial response is that less light going into the tank. Even if you used an external reflector. But I dont really know all the implications of removing the reflector. i'm willing to bet that since the cost is less, it is merely the "base" model. The typical internal reflector bulbs are...

    Excuse me . . . . Ophiura

You know . . . . it is really hard to tell because I never really see the entire animal. If I had to make a guess though, I would say larger. I feed my tank every other day for the most part and alternate between the frozen and some flake. I am going to try shrimp pellets, hopefully nobody else...

    buildign this tank

For starters, this will get more responses in the equipment section, and secondly, what exactly are the three sections for? That will help to get a better idea of how big what should be . . . .etc.

    Excuse me . . . . Ophiura

I might have to try shrimp pellets. I have never seen these before, but i'll look at the LFS. I have about 9 hermits total in a 20H. About 6 scarlets (which are not at fault here) and 3 zebras (the little [hr] !).
