a lot of people use 150 watt metal halide. it's not vary common for people to use 100 watt bulbs for aquariums. i believe they are made just for outdoor flood lighting not for aquarium use.

if your corals are bleaching out than it could be there not getting enough light.

there bulbs are not too bright. they aren't even that good.

i think the best bulb might be the ATI Blue+

the only people i know that sell those lights are aquatraders.

i have never heard of the fiji purple losing much of any thing in 4 months. also i have always just changed all the bulbs at once.

if you put fans to blow acrossest the end caps the tek fixture is pretty good. only fixtures i can think of that are better are ones made by ATI and Aquactinics.
