    Another Tank: 90 gallons

Well, I learned a couple things about my fuge today. First off, I have a breeding population of bristle worms down there. Second, don't stick your bare hands into a fuge that has a breeding population of bristle worms.

    ORA Midnight Clown Now available

I admire the platinums way more than these. The development of different baring is harder in percs, hence no n@ked percs or all blacks yet. Seems the occelaris are easier to get the bars to not develope. Plus, the all whites are total bars over the body, rather than no bars at all. Now, if I...

    ORA Midnight Clown Now available

https://www.saltwaterfish.com/-1-ORA-...d-_p_3326.html I personally don't really like it, but I do see the beauty is it's selective breeding.

Well the hammer was starting to die off, mainly because my percs weren't letting it open up, so the hammer and frogspawn got relocated to the fuge till I get an anemone. Got half the whites working, and in 2 weeks I'll turn the next half on so I don't kill off the few corals I have in there.

    CrEePeR!!!!!!

Well, the middle pic makes me think that. And nudibranches come in pretty much all shapes and colors. Does he have a shell or not?

    CrEePeR!!!!!!

From the pics, and this is a wild guess, looks like a coral eating nudibranch of some sort.

So I'm starting my NCP3066 based driver. I'm reading the circuit, and putting parts in place. Pretty simple so far but ran into some questions. Getting them answered and then will actually start soldering. FYI for anyone interested. These are going to have almost the same exact result as...

One bank. 20 LEDs on Vs Dual 96w pc's That's down to 60 watts from 192 watts, with an increase in light intensity. And to think LEDs are "still out to jury"....ppsssshhh

LED Set-up for a 10g nano! Need Help!

So are you going to run them 9 in series on each driver? So, roughly that's a demand of 28.8 volts when the LEDs are dropping aprox. 3.2 volts each. When you wire these up, you'll be trimming down the Meanwells pretty close to their min output. Not a bad thing, but efficiency is a little...

Ran my LM317 based drivers for a burn in for about an hour. They got the mini homemade heatsinks I put on them too hot for my liking, so I've been looking at different drivers. On one of the bigger forums found some info. I've ordered some parts for a new driver, in the buck topology...

LED Set-up for a 10g nano! Need Help!

What current are you wanting to run them on? What driver are you using? If you give me a couple days I'll have my first buck topology driver setup based on the NCP3066 chip. So far I've purchased parts that would equal 10 if they come out right. $50 total. What's your configuration going to...

So a little update on my fuge. Nutrien export of the algae is going great. Params are spot on I'm pretty much letting things grow as they want to. The chaeto ball is growing, all the calpera's as well. Amazing thing is they seem to know not to hit my frag rack down there. Once they do...

Updates: Finished the wiring of my last couple drivers. I now can drive 12 strings of LEDs, which should cover the whites. I got some more chips to make adjustable drivers, along with more components, and some capicitors to smooth out the transitions between switching. I ordered today some...

Now, for compairison. The first picture shows the LEDs on. In the background is the window in the kitchen, open, with a bright and sunny day outside. That's how bright these babies are

That is correct. I'm still waiting on my blues. These are just whites right now. I'm looking at putting in like 5 reds and maybe other colorings to just accent some stuff

I'm using the 3w LEDs yes, a total of 50 right now I'm trying to wire up. Ran into a cool idea that I'm trying to work on. Basically high beams and low beams version of my lights. As soon as my camera is recharged, I'll try to get some pics

So basically LEDs require very constant current running through them for them to be reliable. The appeal of LEDs is the aprox. 10 years bulb life, high lumens per watt, and the ability to dim the light itself. Since sudden fluctuations in current diminish the lifetime of the bulb a couple...

So figured I'd share some pictures of the drivers I wired up. First shows the configuration of the back side of the PCB, and how I bent/will solder up the wires. The others just show different steps. EDIT: Wired up the mirroring LM317's wrong. Wow, that's what happens when you rush it

So there's an issue with my driver. Initially I thought running these LEDs at 1000mA wouldn't be an issue, but I'm finding out that the LM317 gets WAY too hot. Time to order new resistors
