    Rocks?

Most LFS's sell cured live rock you can put straight into your tank. Also, if you have a local marine aquarium society, you may be able to find a really good deal on some "used" live rock. People are always breaking down their old tanks or buying more rock than they need. I've been able to buy...

    RO tanks? which are good?

It's a unit, comprised of several filter chambers. They are measured by gallons per day. A 100 gallon unit will produce about 5 gallons every hour, hour and a half. A 10 gallon unit will take half a day to produce 5 gallons... So, depending on how big your tank is, you want a unit that can keep...

    Emerald Crab????'s

Well water. That's most likely your problem. Pollution contamination. Phosphates and no telling what else. Maybe the sediment filter isn't taking out all the bad stuff, and the carbon can only do so much. That would cause the hair algae to keep going. When you're doing water changes you're...

    coral noob questions

I'm with sickboy. Spend some money on nice lights and then you won't be limited as to what you can get. For now you would probably be fine with a variety of softies, although they will survive in low lighting, they do honestly do better, grow faster and larger under higher lighting.

    SPS Newb

There's been study on the subject, and the conclusion was that water flow and stability are a bit more important than lighting, but still... if you are going to blow money on nice SPS pieces, you should blow the money on nice lighting first. Anything worth doing, as the old saying goes, is worth...

    yellow tang

There is a frozen mixed food for herbivorous marine fish. Took my tang a few days to start grazing the rocks, but it liked the stuff that's just blowing around in the water column immediately.

    Opinions on used equipment

Amen. Every one of our tanks were bought used (6). The only thing I would be cautious about is making sure the person you buy it from is knowledgeable and didn't do anything screwy to the tank, like use copper medication. If possible, pictures of the tank while it was setup, or seeing it before...

    quarantine/hosp tank

I wouldn't waste live rock and sand. If you have to medicate the tank for any reason it will destroy them. I'd go with something easy to remove and clean that provides the inhabitant to hide. Yes, it will have to cycle.

The dog shouldn't be muzzled for more than an hour at a time. It constricts their breathing and doesn't allow for them to drink water.

    Need advice on dog/baby

Re-home the animal somewhere it's wanted. That would be the simplest, cheapest, least time-consuming way to solve the problem for both your family and the dog. The animal will undoubtedly be euthanized by any city animal control service if you take it to a shelter given its temperament. No one...

    Tyree?

From Steve Tyree himself at our DFW coral farmers market a few weeks ago, "I do not label anything I sell as 'Tyree', it will be labelled 'Reeffarmer". Anyone selling ANYTHING with 'Tyree' on it is just making an extra buck off my name."
