    My Lfs Is Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo Stupid!!!!!!!!

When I first began in the hobby we had a privately owned lfs that was great, they asked what I had and had lots of info. about the stuff I wanted to buy, but then they closed, and my stomach began to hurt because I knew the only one left in my town was awful. They are a chain and have several...

    Nitrate Hell.... How to Prevent

I have found that routine water changes work great, plus no chemicals are put into the system and you don't have to work about a machine that might break. I do a small water change, 10-15%, each week. It takes about an hour in total to take out and replace but it really keeps the parameters in...

    stocking a 55 gallon

I think your stock list looks okay, you might want to add a foxface for algae help in your tank. Most of the time they will eat bubble algae and hair algae. They are very useful and colorful fish without having to have as much space to swim as fish like tangs do. Good Luck!

    QT for Hippo Tang

I have heard alot of people say that those tangs might not be happy in a tank that size, I wanted one also but was worried about 90 being too small for them for any length of time. I have been QTing a Kole Tang in my 29g for a few weeks and he is fine in the small space. I do frequent water...

    new tank, first fish choice

How long did your tank cycle and what did you cycle it with? I would buy the fish you want to have in there instead of adding a fish you don't really want in the long term. If you just add one fish at the time you will not cause cycling to start over and bacteria will continue on the growth...

do cleaner shrimp help with ick?

I am in favor of hypo so far with my experiences. The first time I used it I know it saved one of my fish, ich got the rest before I could get it started but my hawkfish survived without any stress at all. He has been back in the DT for a while without any return of ich. I did leave the DT...

    salinity high in hypo

Okay, here is the thing...I have some fish in QT and hypo. They never presented with any symptoms, they are new and I am wanting to ensure their health. Yesterday I tested the water and it was at 1.010 instead of 1.009. Should I start the time frame over or will it be okay? The salinity must...

My first fish are sick : (

I am still new to saltwater too and have had several fustrating days due to figuring out what to do, especially with ich, but hypo really seems to work! It takes time but the fish really can get better and you can figure out how to avoid them getting sick in the future by using the hypo...

    Seahorse Help

Well I am definately still researching and learning about seahorses including dwarfs myself, but I do know that there is a good book about dwarfs I have found. It explains alot of the basics and more, really quite alot about saltwater aquariums in general. It is "The Complete Guide to Dwarf...

Hi again! I wanted to follow-up with this thread. I want to thank those of you that provided so much help to me, ich is a challenge... I made it through hypo for the first time and I had one survivor, my flame hawkfish. He is now back in the DT and doing well, probably alittle lonely though...

It is roughly 7 inches in length and 6 inches high. I payed $50 for it. I have no idea if that was good or not, I just knew I had to have it!
