Ok, thanks for the input. I'll have to consider that. I wonder if its one of those situations where he would only resort to predation of tank inhabitants if he ran out of food. Also maybe I could introduce him last, after other shrimp members were established? Either way, thanks for the tip :)

3 gallon pico long term anyone?

I just set up a 5.5 gallon tank with about 20 watts of PC lighting and a HOB filter. It should be fun setting up; I am going to use some of the advice from this thread. Hopefuly won't have to break it down completley as for a 3 gallon would.

Ok, I'll have to look into sexy shrimps a bit more, I'm gonna dig up my invert book and see what is says about sexies.... according to my invert books; sexy shrimp in nature are found with LPS or an anemone, and are best kept in groups of 3. They are reef safe; however may feed off the mucus of...

    New Pico Tank Build

Holy cow that's alot of stuff. I suppose I could add more corals to my list. I'll technically have around 4watts per gallon with my lighting. Wasn't planning on anything sps; what do you think the 50/50 pc bulbs could support? (there's 2 10 watt ones)

    New Pico Tank Build

Ok I did not know sexy shrimp weren't reef safe. Maybe it's just an issue in a smaller tank where live rock is a premium? If I go with the Shroom option it'd be an only Shroom tank with multiple varities but that one seems kind of boring.

Ok. Good to know. I'm not super technical either. I try and go off personal experiences and based off others when I can. I don't think I would be keeping sps's though in thus small of a tank. Not sure if the lights could handle it.

    Need New Nano Help!

I wouldn't recomend keeping clams under anything but mh lighting. Otherwise I think sps are out of the question. Dunno about lps personally. But all soft corals and maybe some monticaps should be fine

    SaltwaterKitty's 24g Nano Tank Diary!

I don't know whther there is a difference between a freshwater ph buffer and a marine buffer. But IMO try to use products formulated for marine set ups. Especially since ph is also based on multiple parameters in a saltwater tank beyond just alkalinity.

    SaltwaterKitty's 24g Nano Tank Diary!

Your ph will probably not increase on it's own. Most add a ph buffer periodically to being their ph up. Try to get it to a minimum of 8.1. However this may take several days as you don't want a sudden jump in ph. 5 or 6 hermits should be a good start, along with 4 nassarius snails and 4 cerith...

    Katsafado's first ever 10g SW tank(nano)

It's my understanding that the branched "live rock" is not technically live rock and is coral fragments too. I notice the same thing

    Katsafado's first ever 10g SW tank(nano)

Wow sounds like quite a cleaning job. I'm having some nuisance cyano issues as well. But it only seems to form on one of my rocks. Has anyone else experienced cyano that only forms on specific rock types? I think it may be a piece of dead coral not true live rock
