New 46 Gallon Reef Tank Pictures

My first reef tank was a 46g bow front......love them. I just wish I had saved it. I sold it to someone who made it into a goldfish tank..... Nice tank so far. Glad to hear you cycled it with seasoned water. You had me worried there.

    Neurotic fish shot

Your camera abilities are surely progressing. Of course, a good camera sure does help. Great shot. I have always loved these guys. Too bad the SWF photo contest has ended on this one. This would have had my vote for sure.

    New Aquascape!!!

That is beautiful, I like what you have done. Very natural. Once the algae, and corraline take over the new rocks, it will be AWESOME. Good job.

    Nice fish, very expensive.

WOW......I have seen threads get off topic, but boy this one has to take the book. Beautiful fish BellaNavis, but I think I will just see one at a public aquarium. Can you get insurance on fish?......Like pet insurance.

A year in trying...........slacker!!! Can't say you gave up too quickly. The practice as paid off, that is a beautiful picture. Nice colors. He even looks like he is smiling at you, or a sheepish grin.

How do you know if a leather tree coral is dead.

    Cloudy Water

Your tank looks fairly bare.....no light loving corals, clams etc., so I would cut the lights back by half the time for at least a week, then slowly increase the time. It is deffinately an algae bloom. Get some Poly Filter to help with the absorbing of nutrients. This a highly absorbent pad that...

    Do clownfish normaly do this?

Remember......clownfish are just very pretty damsels. They are in the same family and act like them especially when they get older. I have a devil spawn.....cinnamon clown that is a terrorist to my hand, or mag float.

    Freaked out Blue Tang??? Normal??

If the hippo is indeed four inches, I am afraid that the tank you have him in is too narrow, and not long enough for him. They are extreme swimmers. At least mine is. I have a 6' long tank and mine will go from one side to the other side in lightning speed, and then back again darting in and out...

    Iodine Dips

I use a product called Seachem Reef Dip that is a concentrated iodine. Just follow the directions. I usually put the new coral in a bucket of tank water, and add one capful. Agitate the water to mix, and soak coral for 5-10min. This will remove any flatworms or unwated critters. Works very well.

Bubble Tip Anemone hanging upside in the dark

That is really a tiny anemone. I would say that it is adjusting to its new surroundings. Since it is attached, this is a good thing. Staying out of the light could be bad if it continues, but should find a happy spot to stay soon. Are your lights stronger than where it was at the store? What...

    Paly advise

Put them where you want them, then leave them alone. They deffinately don't like being played with. They will open, but need to be left alone for this to happen.

    Blue mushrooms from this site...

I just got these mushrooms from saltwaterfish.com on 1-16-08 and I am really pleased. They said 5-7 mushrooms on a rock. I count 12! They have opened more each day. Very pleased. Go for it. You won't be disappointed.

Post FT w/Arches, Pillars, and Overhangs

Thank you myzislow for clarifiying your stance on my statement. No, size of a tank doesn't dictate your knowledge, but it does somewhat. People that have only had small tanks do not know the ins and outs of owning and operating a larger reef tank. They have the beginnings, but not the full...
