    Iodine dip

Dipping corals is a practice that is done for newly acquired corals to get rid of any hitchikers that may be in the corals. It is a good practice to get into, especially if you are unfamiliar with the store or online vendor you acquired the coral from. I use a product by Seachem called Reef Dip...

    Short tentacle plates?

Are you sure they are indeed long tentacle plates? My short tentacle plate has its tentacles out almost 24/7. Very seldom are they in. Here is a pic of mine to see if it is what you are getting. Long tentacle plate corals have almost anemone type tentacles. Is this what you are getting?

    fox coral

I disagree with pc lighting not being enough for a fox coral. I had a beautiful fox coral that was under pc lighting for almost 22 months. I upgraded to MH lighting and I failed to cover it. Very sad day for me. Fox Corals do not like too much light. I have a new one that is somewhat shaded...

    A hang-on protin skimmer ?

I have a Aqua C Remora Pro and absolutely love it. No drilling needed, just put together, and plug in. It's a fantastic skimmer, with very little maintenance needed.

what do bubble tip anemonies eat?

Journeyman is absolutely right. I have two bubble tips, that I have fed maybe 10 times in 2 years. High light is really all they need. But, I am worried with 2 anenomes in a 29g tank may in the long run not be such a good idea. They will actually release chemicals to create havoc on each other...

    Christmas Tree Worms

Should be just fine. They are beautiful. Just be sure you have no worm eaters. Butterflies, in particular.

how many years in the sw hobby?

Yeah, wouldn't it be nice to buy a saltwater fish for .99!!! But, then again, the ocean would be pretty bare if that was the case. I believe that the prices could possibly be lower, but with all the people out there that think that a fish is........well, just a fish.....Better that people think...

how many years in the sw hobby?

My first salwater tank was fish only. 55g with underground filter, and fake colored and looking coral. This was set up Labor day weekend of 1999. Got a leak in this tank, so only thing available real fast was a 46g bowfront. Had this tank for many years. I have only been into reef tanks since...

    Plate Coral?

Not mandatory, but definately not recommended if you have any sand sifters. A flat rock is just fine.

    Growth of cabbage coral

Thanks all for the reply's. I am interested in the fragging part. They are attached to a small rock, can I just cut them off the rock? Out of the tank of course. I have a colt in the same tank. But, I run massive amounts of charcoal. Change the charcoal often. Any tank with leathers should be...

    Growth of cabbage coral

I have a cabbage coral that has done very well. I am curious as to how fast do they usually grow? I am enclosing a pic from Sept 07 that has 7 heads, and one from Jan 08 that now has 9 heads. At this rate it will take over the spot pretty fast. Do they usually grow this fast? I did change from...

That is a beautiful wrasse. How common are they? Don't seem to get any of them around here. You always seem to get the not so common fish murph.
